Sometimes, you just wake up. I didn't want to. But here I am. Posting bad grammar in the middle of the night instead of sleeping. It can be frustrating. Kind of makes me want to throat chop someone in the spleen. Don't judge me too harshly. It's 1:47 a.m. here in the Missouri. Not really sure how much sense I can make at this hour. I'm not even sure if the internet works at this hour. Sometimes, you just wake up.

Just noticed that I typed "the Missouri. "

Here she is. I am not actually in this Missouri.

An old friend was the Missouri's journalist during the Korean War. He wrote those little snip-its you see in small town newspapers that report sailor so-and-so completed his training course and advanced to a new position. He was also go-fer for the officer in charge on the bridge.

While they were steaming down the coast to deliver a 5" round to a gun position that was blocking the army's advance up a coastal road he was sent on an errand. He walked too close the wrong 5" rifle and its muzzle blast knocked him out cold. On the good side the soldiers radioed a direct hit.

He said the only time he saw the ship fire all nine 16" rifles at once was to show off for some news media they had brought on board. I don't think you'd want to be out on deck when they did that. http://www.navsource.org/archives/01/016222a.jpg

Good morning all.

It's 60 degrees and foggy here in Houston.

There was so much booze talk on this thread last night I woke up with a hangover and did not have anything to drink. Nah, it's just stuffy sinuses and a couple of squirts of Afrin has fixed it up.

I'm off for my walk, then back here to check my supplies to make sure I have what I need here between family functions on the 23rd through 26. We keep celebrating all the way through the 26th, which will be my father's 92nd birthday.

I'll get caught up on the reading here by lunchtime.

Each of you have a great day!

Back "in the day", my herbal adventures were most often accompanied with a fine wine, Yago Sangria, Strawberry Hill, Boones Farm & my personal favorite, Bali Hai. These early experiences with the vintner's art forever influenced my taste buds, & now if a wine doesn't taste like soda pop I probably won't like it. My Dad likes the super dry stuff, & I'll drink it every now & then, but in my mind I hear that old song from South Pacific: Bali Hai, is calling...

Oh, the humanity![emoji12]

Busch was our standard fare back in the day. When we felt like going high brow, we stepped all the way up to Michelob. We were high rollers. Cheap, and better yet, free, was never turned down. I would carry one beer in each shirt pocket, one in each back pants pocket, and one in each hand. Less trips to the cooler. I suppose if I was motivated enough, I could have managed a whole 12 pack in my wardrobe.

Then I discovered that pot was easier to transport.

Lonnnnnng time ago...for anyone monitoring this thread.

Monitoring? Why, of course not![emoji12]
