We are having a terrible thunder storm right now. A regular toad strangled.

What's a cubit?

We had a hell of a storm here earlier. I call that kind of rain a Flat Rock Special.

For those of you city folk who don't know the context, a good ol' boy will be along presently to explain.

The reason for that is confession #4. I could never tolerate more than five minutes of "Seinfeld". I found the characters unlikable, and never saw the humor in a show that was supposed to be funny BECAUSE IT WASN'T ABOUT ANYTHING. That's what fans kept telling me: "Sure, it's not about anything--that's the whole point." Okay, enjoy it. I'm happy for you. If I want a sitcom (a rarity these days) I'll hunt up reruns of "Barney Miller" or "WKRP In Cincinnati".

I thought I was the only person in the USA that could not stand to watch "Seinfeld".

Big Day here at the Homestead.
All family will be rolling in about 1100 hours
for lots of food and a gift exchange.
The kids want to be home Christmas morning
with the little ones to see what Santa left under
the tree, so our big get together is Christmas Eve.
I will get thru it with a little help from Jim Beam.
Popcorn Sutton, and Arturo Fuente.
Close friends of mine.
Merry Christmas to all you drifters.
May your holiday and the coming year be a Blessed one.

Forum wouldn't work for me last night so I just now caught up! It's like reading a new short story everyday lately. Still have this BA cold? that is kickin me around, the sleep all night stuff lets me sleep about an hour at a time and then wide awake! Drift on ,I just wanted to see how this place looked in the middle of the night.

Morning vonn, I'm right up here with you! For some reason been tossing around since about 2:30, couldn't fully go back to sleep, so 4:30 I said the heck with it and got up?Haven't had a restless night like this in a long time? Must be the anticipation of Santas arrival:rolleyes:
So this is what this place looks like on the night shift? :D

snubby,,,,.I was in my back yard trying to launch a kite.
I threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few
seconds, then it would come crashing back down to earth.
I tried this a few more times with no success.

All the while, my wife is watching from the kitchen window,
Muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.

She opens the window and yelled to me,
'You need a piece of tail.'

I turned with a confused look on my face and yelled back,
'Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite.'

Except for the Iowa-class battlewagons, I think few warships have been more graceful to the eye than World War II destroyers, especially the Fletchers.

I can't imagine what life in one in a North Atlantic gale was like, but dang, they were pretty.
Now the great controversy Fletcher or Gearing Destroyers?
Geoff
Who has toured a Gearing when he was very young.

Good morning all and Merry Christmas Eve.

It's 65 and foggy in Houston. The high is predicted to be 79 and chances of rain are 20% going up 30% this evening.

I'm starting my day with a six mile walk. My real challenge will be staying awake tonight at my family's gathering. I'll take a nap after lunch, which should help.

For those of you having trouble waking this morning...

Each one of you have a great day!

Lot of Navy ships been drifting around here lately. My Dad and Uncle were sailors in WW II and the elders before them. I think I was the only Army member since the CW. I know they were all very nervous whenever the weather got bad and some of the stories about storms in the N. Atlantic were almost unbelievable. I like both of my feet on dry land and don't really like to fly without a parachute. Flew on 7 planes before I ever landed with the plane, the weather got bad and the Army didn't let us jump that day. Would like to get a ride in one of the current bad boy fighter jets!
