Getting set up for the long distance whiz competition! :D

Well, since I'm not "equipped" to participate in that contest, guess I get to be the judge. Keep your aim straight!

I have sleeping problems too, I can't go to sleep at a reasonable time and then still wake up around 6AM. But today slept till 7:30, might have been those 5 or 6 adult beverages I had.

Just finished giving the Mini a bath, gonna get some dry clothes on and go cruisin'. Rain in the forecast for the next several days so going to enjoy the rest of today. Housework and laundry can wait.

Okay, revoke my man card and my film connoisseur certification.

I never found the Three Stooges funny.

With the exception of a few classic scenes, I didn't much care for the Marx Brothers (though Groucho on his own was terrific and his letters were brilliant).

Benny Hill bored me. Enjoyed Dave Allen a lot, but Hill didn't do a thing for me. I know, I know, it was classic British music hall comedy. Still didn't float my garbage scow.

Clearly I am a desperately flawed individual; but if you vote me out of the forum, you'll hear from my ace attorney, Washio Sosumi.

Do you believe that a 1/4" thick slice of Texas Sweet 1015 Y onion is an acceptable substitute for the lettuce in a BLT? Your man card may depend on your answer.

Regarding the sleep interruptions mentioned by several others over the past several nights, does the full moon create additional stress on healthy sleep?

Bad Sleep? Blame the Moon

"The answer is simply that we, like every other species on Earth, evolved on a particular planet with a particular set of astronomical cycles—day and night, full moons and less full—and our circadian systems adapted. It's hard to say where the internal clock is in, say, a flowering plant, but in humans, it's likely in the suprachiasmatic nuclei, a tiny region of the brain near the optic nerve involved in the production of melatonin, certain neurotransmitters and other time-keeping chemicals, all in a rhythm consistent with both its terrestrial and cosmic surroundings. Physically, human beings may be creatures of just this world, but our brains—and our behavior—appear to belong to two."

This is the last photograph taken of LtGen Simon B. Buckner, Jr., USA, right, just before he was killed on 18 June, observing the 8th Marines in action on Okinawa for the first time since the regiment entered the lines in the drive to the south. Note the rock and coral outcropping to his left. The shell that exploded hit that outcropping, dispersing fragments into the general, killing him within a few minutes. The other two staff officers were not seriously hurt.

Washio Sosumi, does he work on contingency?

The Stooges can wear thin very quickly. But they seem to have cult status .
Marx Brothers never did much for me, but as stated Groucho was humerous on his own.
Benny Hill was never a favorite, so watched very little.
Dave Hall is an unknown for me.
I think that each was funny in their time, but out of their time not so much?
Cult status is created by Time Life commercials for their monetary gain. The news also creates cult status with much of this and actors, actresses ( 👅 ) again in self grandiosement (?). News considers themselves to be stars and self-important, again for financial gain!
Laurel and Hardy seem to remain funny over time, but maybe not. They would be good on the TV news.

What is the difference between desperately flawed, flawed, normal and abnormal?
Money, audience, time, or just did the sun come up? 😝

The grand kids have stationary and portable Game Consoles, Tablet computers, the latest Smartphones , and pretty much anything they ask for. Yet they say they're always bored.

Somehow this magical device kept my friends and I happy and busy all day long, for a quarter.

It could magically morph into a dozen games in one day. Stoop ball, curb ball, stick ball, hand ball, etc..

In Brooklyn, it was affectionately known as a "Spaldeen".

I'll add that Buckner's father was a civil war Confederate General. My father's second wife grew up in an orphanage named for him. Lt. General Buckner was replaced after his death at Okinawa by Marine Corps General Roy Geiger. I believe this was the only time in history when a Marine General was placed in command of Army troops.

Timjake, thank you for your comments. I went over this stuff day by day with my dad a decade ago and really do not know what to say or add here. It's a brutal world, you have to deal with it, do your job and be a good person.

Now back to Homer Bast's Captain's Diary for this date 1945:

May 22, 1945

Thunderstorms and bad weather were with us most of the night. It has been cool and all wear jackets except on the warmest days. Pea jackets are worn at night as well as foul weather gear. Morning dawned cloudy, rainy and windy. Ships came alongside with the dawn but our stocks are depleted and few provisions remain. Because of bad weather and a minimum of supplies far fewer ships were handled than usual. There was little in the way of a shooting war, although seven enemy came over Okinawa; of these, three were downed by American fire.

Dinner was a surprise with turkey and the trimmings, and all enjoyed it. Afterward, and before a double-feature movie, all the officers bought long black cigars. GQ was called in the middle of the movie. The wind is too strong for the smoke to help. When the wind is from the north or east the ship is uncovered. At those times two smoke boats with smoke pots cruise to windward and provide us with protection. When the anchorage is covered the enemy drop their bombs ashore where their vision is not hampered. The enemy's evening nuisance raids lasted from 1840 to 2045 and then from 2300 to 0200 May 23rd.

Time trials for the Indianapolis 500 just finished up,last car got the pole! Two Americans and a Canadian in row one. When I was a kid that was the highlight of my year then things changed and it wasn't the great American race anymore and was and is dominated by serious big money. The big money seems to take over anything that becomes even remotely popular with Joe Average. Gun hobby has had a pretty heavy dose of that the last few years. Drift on!

Keep us posted on the out come! Might'a made the news?

All this talk about Bison meat last week got me hunting local stores that sell Bison?

Wha-Laa! Found one. The butcher said he just stocks a little bit. So I went today and got some ground Bison for hamburgers tomorrow night. I'm NOT going to tell wifey or grandson what it is, just see if they comment first. Wifey has had it before a few times when we went to Ted's Montana Grill a few years ago. But I can't wait! I got some fresh Amish mators yesterday, so I'm set! And I also got 2 fresh heads of lettuce and salad stuff at the store today. I really could never tell the difference, between bison and beef as far as taste, but I know it's less fat and healthier.

And we're having salads tonight for supper. I'm to tired to cook tonight. Too much weekend activities! It's pretty easy to chop cucumbers and radishes and lettuce, than cooking a big cooked meal!

So enjoy your evening! Stay Safe! Keep your guns loaded and close by at all times! It's a CRAZY world we live in!!

PS Rusty, if you need Bond money, just let us know! I'm sure we can handle it!!!

Being a native Brooklynite, I can attest to that.

Indy car racing

I'm also a big fan of any Auto Racing. Loved the Indy cars back in the 60's. I watch it from time, now days! The STP turbine car was always cool!

Also Just wondering about something, I caught a glimpse of it last weekend on tv. Called Formula E? All electric Formula One type cars, all battery powered! It was crazy to watch. In twenty years, I'd bet most all racing will be powered by batteries?

The one thing I LOVE is the sound of a true high performance engine! I don't want to watch a bunch of full scale slot cars going silently around a Track. Boring!

Hopefully, I won't live that long! But it's coming! Battery powered Hot Rods! YUCK!

My childhood companions.

One advantage to having a really big head was that the dunce cap did not fit well!
A slight movement and it fell to the floor, with a noticable noise! 😝
So it was the nose in a circle for me! Of course I was pretty good at breaking wind with a noticeable noise! 🙇 My parents spent some time at school! 😏
