Early yesterday morning, as I woke to get a drink of water-I decided for some unkn reason, to go look out my front door. I unlocked the locks-and noticed a cat (sex unkn till late yesterday) who is about 8 or so months old-come up from my step to investigate the noise that disrupted it's sleep.

I went to the fridge-got two slices of chicken lunch meat and took it to the door-hoping to feed the kitty-to Sandy's chagrin. I reopened the door-said cat was nowhere to be seen and I was hoping I had not scared it off?

Well, I had to work an over double shift yesterday going in early coming out late. I got home-and that kitty was laying near my front porch. As I approached-it meowed and I got a close look-found out it is a female. Real pretty long-haired grey and white cat.

This cat MUST have been a house cat-and sadly, dumped in the neighborhood very recently by some cold-hearted scumbag. She came up to me and adopted me immediately. I went in, grabbed more lunchmeat and a can of Sandy's Fancy Feast-(again to her chagrin) and went outside to feed the kitty-and give her a bowl of water. I also got rubbed by her-pet her etx.

Now--before people start telling me what I want to do badly, the apt complex just changed ownership and we are not allowed more than one critter in our apartments--or that cat would now be in mine. I'm HOPING that after the complex transition carp settles down, that MAYBE I can sneak her in-if she survives? Ill be buying her - her own bag of catfood this afternoon while stocking up on more for Sandy.

So wish me all the luck you all can spare-that I can sneak this pretty gal inside and without the idiot new owners finding out. The main trouble is-is one never knows when a maintenance guy will come inside-and will see both cats there.

Thank you sir-and I hope I can get this one to stick around-and outlast all the bad stuff outside. This cat is a friendly cat so--I HOPE-she will not blindly trust anyone else??? Ive seen in years past-a maintenance guy kill one-with a shovel-that was a friendly trusting cat. I reported that jerk--but the manager did nothing about it.

I had been earning the trust of that cat at the time too.

Makes me want to counsel the maint guy with a shovel. Jeff

I wanted to do the same. Thankfully, he was fired shortly after. Not for that incident, but for screwing up my toilet. He was changing the wax ring-busted the pvc pipe in the process, then used wood chips to set the toilet back on (making it too high) then not caulking it correctly) and then, a competent maintenance man, had to come in and undo his mess-which took about 2 hours. Ive changed out toilets in the past, and its not a difficult job.

Forgot to mention, ive not seen that cat for two days now and im starting to get worried.

Call the SPCA . They have resources and tenacity to bring the manager and the maintenance guy to task.
Hope the new cat shows up (or has at least been adopted by another caring citizen.)

We have a feral cat that adopted us a couple years back. He still live outside, but comes in to eat and sleep (especially in winter). He occupies my son's room most nights. My son is home for the holidays from school and now has to share his room.
We get a lot of "gifts"; gizzards, tails and sometimes the whole carcass. Chipmunks, small rabbits, moles, voles and mice and his personal favorite flying squirrels. He will race across the yard to see me and the dogs when I have them out. He's a very nice specimen orange tabby. Solid as a rock and an amazingly healthy coat. We had him chipped and neutered and he goes to the vet annually. We give him flee treatments and pull ticks off of him on a somewhat regular basis. I worry that he might become coyote food some night, but I know he'd prefer to live his life on his terms. It's a totally unique (somewhat one-sided) relationship but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

She will show up again. Maybe she has kittens.? Cats here disappear all the time to coyotes and foxes.

My three tamed feral cats survive. One disappears for two days at a time. He's in my neighbors barn killing mice she says. He's the biggest of the three brothers.

I'm up to seven cats I wish I could take in more.

I can't, this happened over two years ago. The maintenance jerk was fired, and all the office staff has been replaced twice. I wish I could though, I found out the then manager-still works for the leasing company-but I don't know her last name or which complex.

I don't think she is old enough to have kittens? and my neighbor first saw her sleeping by the back porch. When I fed her a few nights ago? someone from another building was overheard by me-saying something about feeding this cat-which I ignored as she was starving-but I'm wondering if they are the owners? or if they did something to vile her?

The turtle colored cat we fed outside in the winter and springtime hasn't showed up yet. She was raggedy before we fed her. Then she showed up all groomed. I hope she's ok. I figured if she had kittens they would be here by now. She's been outside for many years I've seen her. I hope she's found a home.

Shasta was outside for four years-but knew where to stay (thank God) and didn't fare badly even though a lot was against her. I did sneak her in every chance I could though till she became an indoor cat permanently.

Sandy is just starting to get brave enough to step out on the front porch. I'm not going to leave her unsupervised like I could Shasta. I don't have the trust yet that she'll not get into any trouble. With Shasta-I had no worries except when a very cruel ""lady"" would set her two ugly-looking rat-mutts on her. Shasta was able hold her own even with her recurring UTI-and that damned diabetes hurting her. Ill NEVER forgive mutt-""lady"" for that.

Still no sign of her, huh? I hope that little girl is OK. My guess (hope, actually) is that she went missing and her owner(s) found her. That's happened to us more than once over the years.

I'm hoping something good has happened? I have a large bag of catfood and a box of Fancy Feast with her name on it.

I looked outside a couple of days ago and the turkeys(a flock of about 16 live here) were messing with something in the yard. I went out and chased the turkeys away and there was a cat out there I had never seen. Had his head inside of a mayonnaise jar...I kid you not. Well I went out and tried to pull it off'n the cat's head and no go...and he scratched the H outta me. Went i and got some welding gloves I use round the wood stove and a pair of wife's bandage scissors. finally grabbed the cat by the scruff of his neck and cut the jar off his head. Lucky cat...he was gonna croak otherwise. He was Not Happy even after the removal. Haven't seen him since. I did try to put him in a cat carrier to have him neutered and have shots but that was a no go..

I had a similar situation-only the cat was stuck on a 2nd storey roof. I climbed onto the very thin hand rail and grabbed the roof edge to hang on to-grabbed the cat by his back foot-recieved a his and a few bites to my left hand-many deep scratches-while I yanked him off that roof and swung him onto the walkway of the 2nd story next to my then apt. That cat had been up there with no food or water for about 3 days. One heck of an ungrateful cat. Never saw him again. I had to get a tetanus shot-no stitches-but I was sire a few weeks.
