Hi all, made my round's today and came across a M-649 no dash. Well I had to take a look and seeing how I already have a nice nickel M-38 Bodyguard why do I need this one? Gave it a good look over and it has good timeing and lock up, a few scuff's and scratch's in the finish and needed a good cleaning, but overall nice, no box as usuall. Now for the deceit, as I was giveing it back to the clerk it whispered to me, Bob, I am stainless and not quite perfect in finish, I would make a better carry gun than that prissy little perfect M-38 you have at home, buy me! Well I was seduced by the little temptress and after a bit of haggeling it was purchased. Got it home and gave it a good cleaning and seeing how it had a few scuff's and shiney spot's decieded to break out the Flitz and shine her up a bit. It came out pretty fair, but now how to tell the M-38 about this whole affair!

That's exactly how it happened to me. At first I felt so cheap but have now grown to accept my indiscretions. It's tough to keep the mistresses apart but oh so worth it. It makes me a better man, honest.

I can't believe what I am reading. I had the EXACT same experience with a new Model 638 a month ago. My twenty something Model 38 now reposes comfortably in the safe with its cousins, ready to leap into action at a moment's notice. Now to find a proper set of wooden grip panels to adorn the 638. I am not into rubber.

Nice 649 !

I can relate to your problem. I'm still trying to explain to my 38-3 Bodyguard why I'm infatuated now with a...err, huh Ruger SP101 of all things. I'm not sure I understand myself...surely the lust will vanish.

Wow, that's refreshing; now I know that I'm
not alone. I also have problems with power
tools whispering to me as well.

Well, every man has his moments of temptation. Perhaps next time you will be able to over come. However, I doubt it. Nice looking bodyguard. I'm glad I didn't see it first.

Had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago; after buying an unfired 649 nodash with box and papers (and paying full price for it) I got a heads up on a 49-1 at a local shop - they were asking $350? or so for it -- I left tire tracks that day at the office getting over to buy it.

Oh, so I'm not the only one.
After spending years telling folks about my love affair with pocket carry of my m37. I had a moment of weakness for the shine of a nickel m49.

Now I feel like i have to apologize when I open my safe an the poor neglected 37 just lies there staring at me.
I never thought I'd be one to "trade her in for a flashier model"

Thank's for the support all, I had thought perhap's I stepped off the elevator before the top floor, I see I have a bit of company! W V Martin, be carefull, I have a new XR1200 that talked dirty to me in the garage!

I am so jealous. I have been looking for a decent 649 for some time. No one around my neck of the woods seems to want to part with one (or if they do they want an arm and a leg for it). Congratulations on your score.

It would be hard for me to resist that one too. Good job on polishing it. I have polished several of mine in the past. I just like to do it while the worthless T V programs are on which is most of the time.

Does anyone know of a good 12 step gun addiction program? I would thank you, my wife would thank you and my checking account would thank you!!!...Where does it end............
