Another Model 37 Question

Sometimes being bored is expensive. Picked up a Model 37 2" blue Sq. butt in 98% condition. Boy is it light ! Looked in the book and saw where they disclontinued the pinned barrel, which mine has with non diamond stocks. The ser. # is hard to locate to date it. Mine is 704J73 I don't follow these J frames so maybe someone out there better understands these serial numbers and can help with an approximate date. No plans to shoot or carry but will probably use for tradin material when something else comes along.

You have one of the 1971-'72 "floating J" guns. These had up to five numbers and the letter J starting with 1J1 and ending with 999J99, so yours was probably from 1972. Hope this is helpful.
