The wife normally doesn't make mistakes but when she asked why she has to fool around changing batteries in the flashlight for walking the dog at night... she knew she messed up!

Didn't find USA sourced flashlights in a configuration I was looking for so I settled on one that was at least assembled in the USA.

The wall cradle/charger was the selling point. It'll hang next to the laundry room door that leads to the garage which is the way we go outside 99% of the time. Wife really likes the thumb button and simplicity of pressing once for full throttle and again to turn off. I did good. Could't find an Alexa voice control... maybe next model. Wife particularly likes the long throw (we have no street lights). Or maybe she meant to throw it at me... we'll see.

Streamlight Stinger DS HPL.

Looks good. I'm in the market for a new flashlight as my 4 C-cell Mag light which was returned to the factory for repair, will not be fixed.

When I replaced the batteries the in my MAG light, a small piece of copper/brass came out with the batteries. It was some internal part which was needed for the functioning of the light. I sent the light back to MAG light asking for them to repair/replace the non-functioning light. I got a letter back from them saying that my flashlight had been damaged by leaking batteries and I should contact the battery maker. They would SELL me a new replacement flashlight. I think it was a form letter they send out to everyone because there was no battery damage to the flashlight, just a broken internal part. Needless to say, MAG light will not be seeing anymore money from me for their products.

You can't beat Streetlights. They hold up for ever with a battery replacement every couple of years. I have a SL 20 that I bought in the 1970's and it still works good. Before I retired I always had a smaller one in my police car. I keep a smaller rechargeable on my night stand in the bedroom next to my handgun.

I have two 3 cell mags. I just replaced the bulbs with these.

Still not rechargeable but I hate to throw away a good flashlight. These things work like a new LED light. Muy Bueno.

We live in perpetual darkness this time of the year.

Surefire's and Malkoff's (I don't think people come any better then Gene and Cathy!) have taken FAR too much of my money, over the years! ;)

Streamlight has also taken a lot of my money (just not as much) over the years!

You know yer flashlights.

I like Gene and his helper (forget his name). Never spoke to Cathy. Malkoff is great stuff. My MD2 has the High/Low bezel switch. Sub lumen to 400... love it. The Surefire G3 on the end has a Malkoff M61LL in it. MDC... great AA light.

Guns and flashlights...

Now I'm not so happy. If I had known about that light I wouldn't have bought the 2 Edge lights. My wife says I have too many flashlights. I told her flashlights were cheaper than pistols. There was no response.

I think this new flashlight will probably be one of the most used if for no other reason we'll know where it is. :D

I'm a big fan of Streamlight. Santa gave Ms. Judy a Streamlight Scorpion last year to carry in her purse.

I still have my Streamlight 20X. The thing has got to be at least 30 years old and is still kicking. It not only throws one heckuva beam but is also great for knockin' a bad guy into right field. But of course, I'd never do anything like that because, from what I've heard, flashlights are not to be used as defensive weapons. Right?:D

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm definitely going to have to check out the Stinger.

I have a Fenix TK75 2018 "searchlight" en route. Max. output is 5100 L (!) High 1 level is 2000. Should light up any critter (4-legged or 2) on my property and probably fry 'em as well. Also, it can be charged by USB, although you have to remove the battery holder to do it.

My "bump-in-the-night" light is a Fenix UC40 UE (now replaced by the UC30, but basically the same.) Made you-know-where but a good quality light. At full tilt (960 L) it's good to about 200'. Has a USB port in the end and just plugs in for charging.

That Streamlight Stinger is supposed to be a really good light, and the wall cradle charger is a plus.

Stinger is a great light. I'm sure it will serve you well, until the switch fails. But, they will fix it for free. At least they did the ones I sent back. Because I have had switch problems WITH EVERY STREAMLIGHT I'VE EVER HAD.:(
I use Fenix now. And have gotten good service. Until the switch busted.
Time to try Streamlight again.:D

I got one of those LED flashlights advertised on TV - freeze it, run over it with a truck, etc. and zoom focus. But I got it for less than half the TV ad price on eBay. I have seen them in local stores for $10. They seem very well made and sturdy.

Anyway, it works great and does everything I need a flashlight for. I keep it on the kitchen counter, seems like I use it for one thing or another every day. I have a 3-cell Maglite and would like to replace the conventional bulb in it with an LED, but certainly not for $17.00 or anything close to that price. I might go $5. Otherwise, I'll just keep on using the regular bulb.

BTW, Dollar Tree sells a fairly decent plastic LED flashlight for a dollar (without batteries) Plenty good enough for most household needs. I am always amazed how Dollar Tree can sell their stuff for a dollar.

One of the ways they do it is - in some instances - by using very low quality/capacity components. I once weighed one of their AA batteries and a Duracell. Their battery was about 1/2 the weight.

Recently I sent in my 20 year old Mini - Mag Light (2 - AA battery size) because the reflector had cracked and it has a Lifetime Warranty. The freight was less than $3 bucks so what the heck...........

I got a call from Mag Lite about a week ago said they would warranty my light OR send me a brand new LED version for a reduced price of $8 Bucks. Personally I do NOT like the LED lights and any one that I did own I gave away. I explained this to them and they agreed to warranty my regular version and repair it free of charge. The found it odd I did not like brighter lights which of course the new LED's are, but I find that working with the bluish/white led lights are a bit hard on my eyes. I MUCH prefer incandescent light to LED's and that is the main reason I do not have any in my home - except for the Laundry Room which I spend little to no time in. In my Work Shop and garage I do have Fluorescent fixtures however I also have incandescent fixtures above my work bench.

I must have 25 - 30 Flashlights (mostly Mag-lites) scattered around the home, garage, cars, motorcycle, and they all still work fine for me. I will quickly admit I do not like change. LOL :p
