Greetings! Just registered here today. Bought my first S&W yesterday: a gorgeous early 686. It is also my first revolver. What a beautiful piece of machinery! I learned about the 686 after reading a lot from this forum and other sources.

I live in Gwinnett county outside of Atlanta - same house for last 29 years. Except for a vet-bring-back K98 rifle and Ortgies pistol that my dad brought home in 1945, I've not owned any guns. Now I have two handguns, and am planning for more. I can see that it would be easy to become a collector!

Certainly looking forward to learning lots from this forum and all of you experts out there, while we all wait and see what the world's greatest gun salesman in the WH is going to do next.

Welcome to the forum from the opposite side of Atlanta (Coweta County).

Beautiful revolver!! I think a 686 or 586 is going to be my next purchase.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

Welcome from Texas mdennison. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

A very nice 686 you have.

Welcome to the Best Gun Forum on the net.

Alot good people post here. Welcome from Coweta county way. That's one of the best S&W's made. Good looking custom wood grips! What kind are they? I've got an early 80's 686, 6" Bbl. I've always enjoyed target practice and hunting with it.;)

Many thanks to you GeorgiaHunter, and all for the kind welcome. Those grips are from Ahrends. I probably will be looking to eventually get some Pachmayrs for the range. Hoping to get there this weekend!
