Any arguments for the 19-3

Get the 5 inch 27-2 and don't look back. There is simply no better gun in the S&W revolver line than the ".357" Magnum, whether it is pre-war Registered, non-Registered, Post-War or numbered Model, not including the Classic Series, in my opinion. You will not be sorry.

Yes, both blue. As for heavy loads, nope.

I have both and love them equally but the balance of a 19'is addictive . If it has target hammer gripsbetc I might go with the 19

Well the question keeps coming up, "what's the intended use?"

My wife keeps asking me something along those lines as the revolvers pile up- What can I say? general woods rambling, plinking, target practice, teaching kids to shoot, fondling, cleaning, long term value for the family, not in any order.

Whenever I leave the farm with a gun, it probably won't be one of these, but farm and woods duties plus recreation.

Tuff choice...as stated the 19 is lighter and packs easier.
27 will bring more money for now anyway.
4" 27 is harder to find than a 19.

Both are fine guns. The 27 has direct lineage back to the original Registered Magnum and the 5" barrel is highly desirable (2nd most after the 3.5").

The 19 was developed to be the ultimate service revolver. Light and hard hitting. It can be broken (cracked forcing cone) or worn loose with significant use or high speed ammo.

I'd take the 27 as more collectable and more valuable. I'd also pick up the 19 if reasonably priced.

Take the 27

Both being LNIB, I'd buy the 27. The 27 is worth a lot more.

Now if you were going to take the gun and shoot it regularly, or even carry it on your belt in a holster, the 19 would be my choice.

But if the revolver is going to live in your gun safe except for an occasional viewing, I'd get the 27.

They are both almost the same price??? Either the M19 is in really good condition with a high price and the M27 is in lesser condition for a lowish price... No matter what, in same condition any M19 should be less than any M27. That being said if both are in good condition I would buy the M27 for the value. If you regret it later you should at least break even if not make money.

I've got a 5" 27-2 and three 19s, 6", 4" and 2 1/2". If I could keep just one, it would be the 4" 19-4. It just balances perfectly for me, and fits my stubby mitts just right. The 27 is a tad to big for comfort. But I agree, it's the keeper if you're going to shoot a lot of full-house .357s.

I feel your pain. Just sitting here I'm going back and forth. My hands are small so the 19 just shoots easier and better for me. My wife's 19 is by far the most accurate revolver in the house. That said .. a 5" 27 would be something I personally could not pass up... even though I know I would shoot the 19 better ..

Well, arguments for the 19-3 4" were good, but the 27-2 won out. Seems unused.
