Any breakfast cereal fans here?

I like Grape Nuts, too. I will put some cinnamon in them and a little honey. Same with Grape Nut Flakes. I also like Cheerios, especially the Multi-grain. If I have one, I'll eat a banana along with it, or strawberries.

I had not bought any for several years and took the plunge recently. Most of the stuff has too much sugar or needless added tastes for me but, I forgot how much I liked Grape Nuts. I think its going to be something ill keep buying as well as Cheerios. Anyone else here drawn into this spending trap? and if so? whats the stuff you like?

Very much like Frosted Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, Rice Chex.

Kellogg's Special K with Red Berries, crunchy rice and wheat flakes with strawberries are a good source of fiber and made with whole grain.

I'm in the camp that believes there are no healthy whole grains and all the boxes of **** that line the aisles in supermarkets are big food moneymakers with little or no nutritional value.

Why pay $5 for a box of air when for the same money you can get a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs?

Oatmeal and skim milk every day for breakfast. Honey nut cheerios in skim milk for a snack sometimes in the evening.

Honey Nut Cheerios, or usually the Kroger clone, with a little plain (unsweetened) soymilk. But that's an evening snack, not breakfast. If I eat cereal for breakfast it's oatmeal or Cream of Rice. Hot Ralston if I can find it, but haven't found it for a long time.

I use All Bran to make cranberry-orange bran muffins.

Come to think of it? I havent seen Ralston around for ages either.

It surprises me that so many people like Grape Nuts, or Grape Nuts mixed with Cheerios, but I dunno why it should. I like 'em too. Sometimes I'll eat Grape Nuts with yogurt instead of milk.

Another one I used to eat a lot is Kashi GoLean Crunch. But talk about keeping the trains running on time, with musical accompaniment. I lost 20 lbs. one summer eating that stuff for breakfast every day. It's really tasty, too. Another one that's good with yogurt. But my wife won't have it in the house; says I'm too hard to be around.

Ive never tried Kashi, think ill do some "field research" on it. :D

Back when I was a kid, Kellogg vs. Post was as heated as Marvel vs. DC.

I remember that too. We always had more Kelloggs than Post. Guess the kids ruled that decision in the household.

Bacon and eggs, when im not too lazy to cook? is my other breakfast,

McCann's steel cut oats.

50/50 water/milk cooked in a 1:4 ratio, a dollop of honey, lots of organic blueberries and raspberries if they are available. Sometimes blackberries.

Me and my 4.5 year old boy gobble it up every morning. We ran out yesterday, he wanted more but we didn't have time to cook up another batch. This morning I doubled the batch and we had just a little left over.

I remember having to double the batch a while back, so now I can measure my son's growing up by how often I have to double the morning oats!

-I should add, my boy is awfully strange to his little buddies and their parents: he eats veggies, hates fried foods, loves fresh fish, any grilled meat, and gets disappointed if there is no broccoli at the table for diner. When he eats at a friends house he likes what the parents are having, and can't stand the fried and sweetened food the other kids are eating, it cracks everybody up.

I think he is an alien!

Lets not forget about the kiddos in this cereal thread. By the time mine were 4 years old you could walk down the cereal aisle in the super market and they could name every cereal as you passed it by.

No, they couldn't read but they recognize the picture and could tell you what the prize inside the box was. their favorites were:

Soop soops (fruit loops)
Sugar plops (Kellog's Sugar Corn Pops)
Appo Jats (Apple Jacks)
Tony the Tiger (Kellog's Frosted Flakes)

Standard issue Quaker Oats, even in the summer. Bowl of oatmeal, English muffin, small glass of OJ.

I like Kix, the plain kind. When I was a kid my mom made an evening snack from it. She skillet fried Kix in butter until the little kernels were golden brown then salted it. I liked it better than popcorn.

That sounds good. I'm gonna try it.

I like,

Corn flakes
Corn chex
Rice "
Wheat "
Shredded wheat
Cheerios
Total

I use sugar, but don't like the "pre sweetened" ones, they seem too sweet.

Hot cereal? My favorite is good 'ol corn grits! Once in a while oatmeal.

When I was a little kid I didn't like hot cereals at all. Mom used to say "little kids in China would love to have this." She didn't think it was at all funny when I suggested maybe she should send it to them.

That special blend, 1 box Walmart Great Value raisin bran, 1 box Great Value Multi-Grain Flakes. Dump the two boxes at the same time into a big plastic ceral tub. Medium size bowl every morning keeps me more on time than the German  and Swiss  trains.

Cereal? yep, gotta have it! And it's not just for breakfast, a big bowl of cereal is a perfectly acceptable option for lunch or dinner. A few of my favorites...
Frosted Mini Wheats
Apple cinnamon cheerios (anyone else find those cartoon characters on the box a little creepy looking???)
Honey nut cheerios along with their new Medley Crunch or something like that
Wheaties (preferably with a large handful of raisins)
and the occasional treat of apple jacks, froot loops or lucky charms :D
When my wife complains about the price I just mention it's cheaper than going to McDonalds every morning!

Steel cut oats don't look at all like American oatmeal...must be a Commie plant! Whats the attraction? All I know is they take longer to cook...I think....never had any...yet.

Try adding sweetened dried cranberries ("craisins") to hot cereal--oatmeal, Cream Of Wheat, Cream Of Rice, etc. Or
Grapenuts with hot milk. Lovely. Think I'll do it tomorrow morning.

I'm a cold cereal fiend. In the cupboard now:

Corn Flakes (open)
Rice Krispies (open)
Honey Bunches of Oats (open)

Standing by are more of the same plus:

Frosted Flakes
Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds
Honey Nut Cheerios

Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes and Shredded Wheat are eaten with cold, 2% milk and less than a teaspoon of sugar.
