Any Corvette owners?

I had 3, a '58 a '65 and a '70. '58 was relatively trouble free and a lot of fun. '65 was fun but was the first Corvette with 4 wheel disc brakes and they had the worst design ever. A friggen nightmare to work on. The '70 had a 350HP 350 from the factory with 11:1 compression. Would only run right on Sunoco 260. The cowl and headlight doors were vacuum operated and had about 70' of vacuum hoses that ran to dashboard switches for light doors and cowl over wipers. My buddy had a silver '69 427 coupe with factory side pipes, a beautiful Vette. In a race I could beat him outta the hole and for about 3/4's of a block then he'd fly by me like a rocket.

I,too, have worked on a lot of those disc brakes. They couldn’t have been too bad a design; they remained in use through the 1982 model.

I bought my first Corvette, a 1969, in 1972 after my first U.S. Army tour. Here is my current one with his big brother:

Only two: A shabby '54 when I turned 21 and was doing extra summer shifts at the paper mill. Much later a '75 (last one) Roadster. Shoulda bought the big block '74. Three season drove the '75 for three decades, now the elder son has it.

The thing I will never begin to understand is how anyone with an interest in driving anything would find time to complain about the price of fuel. I drive a '29 Model A basically a stocker, I run non alcohol premium in it just like my lawn mower, at nearly $5 a gallon its the cheapest thing I put in anything I own. The model A get less than 12 mpg, they weren't designed to deliver fuel economy, neither was your Corvette. If your going to try to have fun, even if its just impress others, please don't complain about how much money it costs. I get it if you happen to be a long haul trucker, or cab driver or even a soccer mom putting thousands of miles a year on a van hauling kids around to this and that but if your driving something that is supposed to be "sport", save it.

I’ve had 16-17 Vettes since my first in 1972. That was a 65 convertible. Currently have a 2005 convertible, Z51, 6speed with 17K mikes. Many in between. Big Blocks, fuelies, drivers and show cars. Some ad lmistvs good as a Registered Magnum.

I briefly considered buying a Corvette...right up until my girlfriend reminded me that it's considered an old man's car... ;)

I get a kick out of that belief - A lot of people seem to express it, along with the second childhood, and "making up for something" theories....

Been a gear head since high school, and have been rebuilding / driving fun cars all my life, so I, along with many Vette owners are just doing what we always did. Still on our first childhoods, thank you.

I've owned two Vettes, a white 1975 L48 that I built into a stock appearing 1/4 mile monster, and a red 1995 LT1 that is basically stock. The LT1 has only about 80K miles on it, and still sits in my garage.

Cars are my other bad habit besides Smith and Wesson Revolvers! Corvette is a 73 Four Speed with the L-82 engine. Last year for the chrome bumpers. It is my "bad weather" classic since it has T-Tops and the Backdraft Cobra has no windows or a top.

Minor detail. Yes, nitpicking, that’s what we do here. :)

72 was the last year for chrome bumpers, 73 was the last year for a chrome bumper.

Nice carS. The Cobra is sweet as well.

Graduated college in '87, by '88 I had purchased one of the cars on my bucket list, a 1962 Corvette. Sold it in '92 and should not have! Notice the Camaro and the 68 Suicide door Thunderbird behind it. Clearly, I was lacking in adult supervision!

I am assuming Norton 750 has something to do with motorcycles.

Since we're "nitpicking".... :D

My '72 had 3 chrome bumpers, one in the front and two in the back.

My '73 had no chrome bumpers in front, but two chrome bumpers in the rear. ;)

Oh, yeah, British Bikes. Started riding a Triumph Bonneville in college when I was 19. The cars and bikes both kinda got out of hand.
