Anyone have any experience with Duracoat(sp?)? On a stainless slide? (or on a Hogue overmolded stocks?) I saw the post on the 5906M which got me to thinking......

I like reverse two tone guns. I have a "new to me" 5906; I've buffed out the scratches, now I'd like to have the slide "blackened".

Other thoughts and/or suggestions welcome.

I had an AK done, its not a DURA as they would like you to think, The first time I worked the safety, it left a nice clean swipe of bare metal.

The only way Dura cote has worked for me is to have it professionally done.

My smith parkerizes the gun then airbrushes on the dura cote. Then it cures for a LONG time.

My attempts at home finishing have been less than stellar.

Duracoat is definitely not the most durable thing out there. I used to offer Duracoat until I tried out Cerakote and found it to be the hands down best coating on the market for firearms.

Check out NIC industries for the full scoop with test results against Duracoat and Gunkote.

Its kinda like comparing a car painted in 1920's to todays paint jobs.

No comparison.

Cerakote Firearms coatings

Here are a couple done in Sig Black with polished extractor and safety.
