Any Love For The Older Rossi’s ??

The only thing I dislike about mine is it's the "C" model with the spurless hammer.
I just ordered a hammer and trigger for a 971 that I think will fit.

Am I allowed to mention a Rossi 62? It's their pump action .22 take on the famous Winchester 62. Mine brings me back 65 years to the boardwalk shooting gallery's at the Jersey shore.

My rifle shoots POA-POI at 25 yds. with CCI SV. with iron sights and 75 YO eyes I can get squirrel head size groups. Keeps me happy, that's what counts. It's an old one and built pretty solid. Still available new but I have no idea if the quality is still there.

I had one of those in nickel. A handy little rifle. Sadly I sold it to a friend who sold it off too.
Now we're both sorry to have done so.
I see Rossi now has a new pump .22, but looks totally different with an odd trigger guard and different action.

ACORN, your post got me interested in the changes to the 62/ gallery gun over the years.

The new ones are 18" barrel, aluminum frame, cross bolt safety, funny looking trigger guard and no DIY take down screw.

My older model has 24" barrel (23 1/4), steel frame, half cock safety, rounded steel trigger guard and a large DIY coin slotted take down screw.

There is some slight wear to the bluing on the action bar but otherwise ready for another half century of plinking. Ah, they don't make them like they used to.

The difference is night and day.
No resemblance between them other than the pump action. The new model has Phillips head screws through the sides, and generally looks cheap.
FWIW the older models are running $500-$700 used. The new one is around $250 new.

I've never cared much for Rossi revolvers, but I do have an older M92 in .357, imported by Interarms. It's a sweet shooting little carbine, and pairs up nicely with any of my .357 and .38 wheelguns. Here it is posing proudly with a 5" M27.

I never owned one of their handguns, but I do have a couple of rifles.
I've got an old Model 62 pump that's tons of fun. This rifle, a set of spinners and a brick of ammo makes for a great afternoon. :D
I also have an older, pre-safety 16" Model 92 in .357. Great little rifle! ;)

Interarms Era Rossi revolvers are not quite up to S&W standards but are pretty great at their price point.

I've got a M720 44 Special that though not as refined as a 696 are great 5 shot 44 Specials that aren't so expensive that you're wary of carrying them and about K frame sized so easier to carry.

My M68 is a copy of a Mod 36 and same as the 720 good enough for the price point.

The 518 22lr I have is a bit disappointing because it shoots way high even after adjusting the sights as much as possible. But for $200 it's fine for a stash gun.

All have pinned barrels except for the 518.

When Interarms stopped importing the Rossi revolvers, several distributors blew them out at ridiculous prices. My friends and I all ordered several. They were functional guns, but over the years I sold or traded off the ones I had.

One of my early handgun purchases was Rossi's version of the stainless S&W Chief's Special revolver. Total junk. It quit firing double action the first time that I took it to the range. My dealer sent it back for me to get repaired. When it came back, I sold it and bought a new Model 649 S&W. Still have it and added more S&Ws.

Sadly taurus owns Rossi......Their plastic abomination .22 pump is ugly junk.

My bedside companion, M971. Fantastic trigger too.

I have one just like it without the muzzle brake.
After shooting it a buddy of mine asked "who did the trigger job?"
I told him "nobody, as far as I know it hasn't had one."
He couldn't believe that a stock Rossi revolver could have such a great trigger.

I've also got a little j-frame sized 38 special with a 3" barrel, as well as a j-frame sized 22LR.

They're all great revolvers. Of course they are all 30-40 year old guns. I have no idea what their newer production guns are like.
