I would like to hear from any of the old timers here who remember the time that all of the post counts were lost on the forum here during what I called "THE GREAT Flush Job" (of 2005 or so?). I think this was when Parabellum was the still 'boss dog' & Lee was only a member. This was when we had the old server IIRC & everybodys post count went to zero or nearly so. My count was around 400 & went to zero, heavy posters like r. burg was about 12k, ferrellmerrell was close, Sipowitz & Mickey D, gizamo and many others were very high. Tenn dixie girl & Bard C were some others that come to mind. Memory fails me (often) on some of the other names from back then.

I think Parabellum showed a lot of wisdom when he selected Lee to take the reigns here. Lee took a great site & made it even better. Many of the newer members have only helped to improve what was an outstanding beginning.

How about it? Can anyone help refersh an old mans memory? What are some of the other posters names from 'that by gone era?

Actually, it happened in August, 2009.
We had already moved the board away from Groupee hosting services in June, 2009.
Posts 96 & 101 explain what happened.

Actually, IIRC, it was after Lee took over. There was a change in the "software" (whatever that is) or something similar, and many of our posts were lost or deleted.

No big deal to me as I only consider the number of posts when I am looking at the Classifieds.

I'm still at a loss for words and rarely post anymore.;)

I remember...but it didn't really affect me too much. Think I was around 400 or so.

I'll never catch up, because it seems to me like I felt I was a whole lot smarter back then and had something to say about it...

The loss of the post count was traumatic, but when I lost all those "Likes", I went into a Blue Funk that lasted, oh, 30 seconds or so. (which is a looong time for me to hold a thought!)

As I recall, I was closing in on 100,000 posts (well, it may have been 1,000 posts--my memory isn't what it once was) and had planned to offer a celebratory karma of 12 gold Krugerands (something nice, anyway), but then the crash (flush?) came, and I (and numerous others) was (were) so demoralized that I sought after foreign forums and stuff and forgot the True Way of Smith & Wesson. It just shows how IT guys can start messing around and, in the end, destroy a man's hopes and dreams and raison d'etre. Just sayin'.

Likes? Likes?......I don't remember no stinking "likes". Art

I always thought the software was inflating my post count, anyway. As I recall it had me down for around 1200 posts when the crash came, and I've never posted but once or twice a week -sometimes going for many weeks without posting at all. Maybe I sleep-post and don't remember doing it.

I have been here since 01 and I lost some. They were probably the ones that would only embarrass me if they were to be viewed.

Wow, 2001, you were almost here before Parabellum. Makes me feel like a newby.

Lost SOME posts then (more like 2009 I think), lots of "likes" more recently. But as you can see that didn't stop me! :D

I was a newbie about when the change happened.

I do remember the shameless post count threads.

And Caj., I know all about the "night of". You guys cracked me up and I soon joined. ;)

Dang look at my post count. Hmmmmm. :D

I'm near 10 years and 49 posts!
What happened? I must have double tapped the submit button to get that high.

I remember... was north of 1800 honest posts when they went poof! My level of interest was deflated too.
