Ugly is as ugly does...
I had a Llama .22 mini 1911 almost clone. It looked good but a can of coke was safe (or very unlucky) at 20 feet If I'd had my lathe then, I'd have turned a new bushing and built up & recut the barrel lug recess. For all that, it was a cute thang. At least it was possible to engage the safety.
I have a Jenning J22 that's nothing to write home about but with good ammo it goes bang every time... it might just endanger my apres' shoot coke. But the sliding safety is about impossible to work.
When I started with the PD in the late 70's, we could sign out a Victory model with maybe 10% finish... that rattled when shaken & 6 mismatched rounds of RNL. Yeah, that was ugly. I carried my Blue M19 until I could locate a M66.
A SXS damascus 17 bore percussion that some damn fool had sanded down & ruined. The hardware no longer fitted...
