Most of the guns firing on the Jonny Quest cartoon were shown recoiling and empty cartridge cases ejecting which a lot of modern movies and tv shows don't even do.
if you appreciate a dark sense of humor try The Venture Brothers, in many ways a parody of Jonny Quest.

I watched every episode when new in the early 60's. Aired on Friday night in Los Angeles. Looked forward all week. I really miss simpler times.

Always looked forward to spending Saturday mornings sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons instead of playing outside.
Well, Jonny was cool, sorta, but "I'd like to be a spaceman, the fastest guy alive. We'd travel 'round the universe in Fireball XL5!"

I have an annual subscription to Boomerang streaming service. They have a lot of the Hannah Barbera cartoons. I'll have to check out this one also. Does anybody else remember when Hanna Barbera land was at Kings Island?

Flashback! I watched every Saturday morning. It was on just before Sky King. Talk about a memory jog! I surely don't live in a bubble but I have to say, us baby boomers had the best cartoons and without a doubt, the best music!
From a 1999 interview of composer Hoyt Curtin:
"The band used for the sessions was a jazz ensemble consisting of four trumpets, six trombones, five woodwind doublers, and a five-man rhythm section including percussion. Two of the drummers were renowned musicians Alvin Stoller and Frankie Capp. According to Curtain, the opening theme took about an hour to produce; however, the shorter "cues" were usually done in one take after a quick rehearsal."
That was me too, my favorite cartoon. I bought the complete series of Jonny Quest on DVD for my boys when they were little, as well as Thundarr the Barbarian. And watched them.
Jonny Quest was a much better show to my 42 yr old self.
