Anyone else born under 49 stars?

Well most of you are just kids as I was born in 1932 to staunch Downeast Maine Yankees. This is not about north/south but just Yankees who were born and raised on dirt poor farms and knew what poverty was. I was raised on fried beets and potatoes that were ground up and fried in cast iron skillet. Wood cooking stove and slept in cold beds warmed by soapstones at night in the winter. But they were good times and we learned how to survive and work. Only poor folk were one family in the whole town. The rest were poor by today's standards, but didn't know it. Most had a cow or two, chickens and hogs along with a garden.

Gosh, when I was born Herbert Hoover was president. Just saying.

If Ike confuses the youngsters, just imagine what that would do:

"You mean the guy who invented the vacuum cleaner ?"
"The cross-dressing FBI dude?"

1955

I was around for Sputnik. I was only 2 and some months but I remember my Dad talking about it. Adding 2 states isn't all that happened. Regular roller coaster ride.:)

PS: In the next few years test pilots and astronauts would be our heroes.

PPS The 'warm' smell of hot vacuum tubes on a metal chassis was associated with any electronics. In a few years we'd start seeing 'transistors'. They were a lot smaller, didn't smell right and they didn't glow.

Seems like a lot of us were born with 48 stars. I'm glad too know I'm not the only old fart around here.

Harry S. Truman presided over my birth. As I recall, there were 48 stars on the flag on that day.

I'm not sure they allow the flag to be displayed around maternity hospitals anymore; it could be offensive to so many folks just stopping in to have their "anchor babies".

Which Flag

I was born in 1948 under a 48 star flag. To answer you concern about new flags, If I recall my flag history properly all new flags are issued on the 4th of July.

Weren't some of the western states......

...still territories back then?:D:D:D

Technology made life oh so much better.....

Like x-ray machines in shoe stores to check the fit of shoes, but also served as a kid's toy to see the bones in their feet. What fun. I wonder how many of them still have feet?

I saw something the other day that mentioned the 'Atomic Testing Lab' made by the same folks that brought us Erector sets. It had real radioactive elements. And a Geiger counter to see how much radiation you were absorbing.:confused::p

Too old to remember.

This "Old Poop", born in 1931, is to old to remember how many stars were in the flag at that time. To make matters worse, since "Advanced Maturity" has taken over my brain, I'm too stupid to use the computer to find out such things. You young "Whipper Snappers", only think that you have problems!

That would've been 48.

Arizona was the last state admitted to the Union prior to Alaska, and that was in 1912.

I was born under a bad sign, but there was 49 stars on the flag. I popped out on Ground Hog's Day 1959. Just hours before the music died.
I am also a Groundhog Day baby. But in 1950. Always had people asking if I saw my shadow on G.H.D. :D

1946 = 48 stars for me. Thanks for posting, I had not thought about it much before now.

I was born under 48 stars, and was present when my state made the 50th star. Born in Hawaii, and very proud of it. Raised in a multi-cultural society, being of Polynesian-mixed race, and always appreciated the multi-national residence of Hawaii!!!
