Been fighting foot pain for many years not knowing I have Morton Neuroma. What a major pain in the......foot! Always thought it was the shoes not the feet but I still believe it started from cheap shoes. If you never heard of MN before it is a pinched nerve in your joints in ball of foot. No cure. I'm to darn young for this ****! (almost 60)

There is some relief though, a pair of thongs made from Island Slipper in HI. Can't feel hardly any pain when I put them on but how much can you do with thongs on?? I even have a pair at work to put on.

Just wondering if anyone else on this site has the same foot problem. I will never have the operation to remove the nerve, just stick it out.

I don't know about your specific condition, but my podiatrist diagnosed my former foot pain as a "neuroma" or pinched nerve between toes. His "fix" was to prescribe orthotic insoles designed to separate the toe bones which were pinching the nerves. After a few years of wearing these inserts, the problem seems not only to have been ameliorated, but actually eliminated, and I don't worry about using the orthotics any more. Maybe something similar can help you --- I hope so, as my coworkers seem intolerant of my wearing thongs, however flattering I fancy them to be...

I get a similar pain in my left foot after being at work for 4-5
hours. Right in the middle of my foot. I too had believed it was
from wearing the wrong shoes on concrete floors for 30 plus years.
But after trying everything from tennis shoes to a good work boot
i still get it after about half of my shift. Did'nt know there was a
condition as you have described. I just take 2 aleve everyday before
work and bear with it. Never been to a podiatrist about it. Should I?
I'm 52 almost and it's been bothering me for about 2 years now.
Thongs are not an option where i work, unless it's underwear.
Haha

I am not trying to step on anyones feet here but Podietrists are, in some cases, not the best answer.
In some cases Orthopedic sergeons will do a lot better.
Podietrists don't have to be a M.D.
I know this from expierence. Please get a second opinion.

I have a morton's neuroma. Painful, painful. Ill fitting shoes , a bone spur that's old enough vote and buy liquor I wasn't even aware was there (yes, it's huge)

Cortisone shots, orthotics, better shoes, and I'm not on my teacher feet 12-14 hours a day since graduation so it' s better.

But it hurts!

But I'll bet you look better than the rest of the posters in a thong...

I'm gonna be a long time flushing that image out of my memory. Thanks just the same. :-)

I have plantar fasciitis. I could not walk or be on my feet for more than a half hour before intense pain set in. My primary care physician diagnosed it and referred me to a podiatrist. The podiatrist fitted me for orthotic inserts and from about the second day I have been pain-free and can walk or stand as much as I can or want to. That was about ten or twelve years ago. Every time I am eligible through my health plan, I get a new pair and have one of the old ones re-built. I am up to five or six pairs. The last re-build, I requested a wider and longer front so I could fit them to my field boots. BTW, my podiatrist will refer to an orthopedic surgeon when necessary. He know his limitations.

I also wear decent New Balance walking shoes. In fact, I have two pairs and alternate them daily. The even-day shoes have the "N" on the back painted gold to distinguish them. My feet feel better and the shoes and inserts last longer.

I have a neuropathy which makes it feel like my feet are very hot. Kind of like putting your feet in the hottest footbath you can stand. My doc sent me to a neurologist who prescribed Lyrica. Didn't help! I have to sleep with my feet sticking out of the covers with a fan on them.

I had plantar fascietis a few years ago when I worked for a blasting company. After I quit it still took over 6 months for the pain to finally go away...

Get checked for a diabetic condition as well.

Many foot problems are aggrevated by diabetic issues. I had foot pain for years. Drs diagnosed it as many things, depending on the doctor. An internal MD checked me for diabetes and it was postive. I was placed on meds, diet and foot care programs. Very little foot problems now four years later.

jkc, can you tell me the brand of insoles? Joe

I had plantar fascietis a few months back....I also had intense heel pain at times...my neighbor is a GP and told me to stretch my foot every day...that made the PF go away...still have the heel pain now and then but working out and stretching it keeps the pain to a minimum...try some stretches and see how it goes...

I've been through such twice. Once from a mis-step while walking the dogs, once from crummy shoes. My chiropractor is also an ART practitioner, and while some of the treatments have been uncomfortable, I've had relief. The first one was relieved with a manipulation that was so unpleasant I sat right up and bellowed. Relief was nearly immediate, so it was worthwhile.
