Anyone else love Hogue monogrips?

Love it!! they fit so well....

I remember when I first started buy S&W revolvers in the mid to late 1980's, the first thing I did when I got home was to pull off those wood grips and put on some Pachmayr grips. Luckily, I put all the original wood grips in a big box and kept them. It seems that in the 2000's, more than half the guns I bought had Hogue grips on them. I kind of like the looks of the Hogue finger groove grips better than the Pachmayr grips. A blued S&W revolver looks like it means business when it's wearing a set of black rubber grips.

I HATE Hogue grips of any flavor. They make any gun butt 3/4 of an inch longer than needed. Makes the butt feel and look to big. If I get a gun with those on it I usually put them in the round file. Cross grips screws have been used on grips for over 150 years. Hogue should have picked up on that.

REALLY?...

I love nylon and wood Hogues but never cared for the rubber ones. Have an old set of J frame nylons missing the old style stirrup and screw. Constantly on the look out for those to parts to put the grips into service.

Easy solution; call 800-438-4747 and talk to a Hogue customer support person. They will mail you the correct stirrup and screw for your grip at no charge, most likely. At least they will do so if they have the right one in stock. They have been very good to me.

Huge fan of Hogue Hardwoods here, having first owned a nylon Monogrip that was on a 19-3 that I purchased from a pawn shop in my late teens. Their grips always fit the gun well and they also fit my hand, particularly the full finger-groove models. I'm not sure how many I own, but this one in Kingwood is one of my favorites.

I like the rubber but don't own any at this time. I have goncalo alves on my RSR, my 29-2, and my Colt DS:

Interesting note: This is the third time in two days I've posted the photo of the Colts, but the first two were for the NS!

I love that pair on the Colt DS. I didn't realise that they made them for this Model.

Yes, especially their wood version. Have many.

Here are a few

After shooting with the stock grips on my J frame M49's, which were ok,

I invested in some Hogue 1 pc grips to help tame the recoil of the 158 "FBI" load.

It made this load bearable , for some short practice sessions.

A loaded 158 lead at 720 fps, could now be used for practice with 50 rounds,
as well as any HOT 125 or 110 gr JHP loads.

Great grips.............. at a good price.

The rubber Houges are great field grips. They allow a very tight grip even when wet with water, blood or whatever. You have to be able to hang on to a revolver in a fight.

Yes, I like Hogues. Here's my Governor with round to square butt conversions, my M19-3 and my M60 with Pau Ferro combats. I have found that Hogues adequately fills the gap behind the trigger guard to protect the middle finger from getting abused. I also like the overall circumference of the grips.

My brother did when he competed with this Model 686.
I like them a lot when shooting this one too.

Pachmyar on his Model 66-1 that he carried his first 10 years a a LEO.

And I really like these Pachmyar grips on my Model 28-2 when rabbit hunting.

Either one works good for me.

Hogues look and feel the best to me, but I really hate the back strap is exposed. I don't want that bare metal on my hand when shooting the 629. The Pachmyars at least are enclosed back strap so you don't feel that recoil. They are awful ugly though to me.

Rosewood

Hogue grips

I have Hogue grips on all my revolvers. I shoot them all and order the grips when I buy the gun. Factory are nice looking, but a bear to shoot for me.

S&W 617, 65-2, 442 and Ruger SP101.

I prefer wood on my revolvers, however I did add a set of hogues to the taurus 627. Very good fit.

I really like the Hogue monogrips. Here they are on my 617. I like the Big Butt grips. I bought them for my 929 when I was shooting ICORE and they helped when going prone.

I like the feel with the extra rubber and wood on the bottom.

Can someone please explain to a non-competitive shooter the significance and usefulness of that base on the big-butt grips?

It's designed for prone. You lay down and put the pistol on the ground. It's a very stable position. If you want, you can file the base so that your sights will be dead on at 50 yards or closer.
