Anyone else on a gun buying moratorium ?

I don't have a problem, I can stop anytime. Oh, there was that 34-1 and the victory I got at the summer Missouri Valley show, and the nice National Postal Meter M-1 Carbine I found at a garage sale next week..... The Tulsa show is coming up fast, I just got my room reserved.

Oh yeah, I can stop anytime.

I am until I get the half-dozen or so projects that I've started finished. Of course, two of those projects involve AR-15 stripped lowers, so it's not like I won't have anything new to shoot!

Never! Only limited now because I am working overseas, however I am surrounded daily by thousands of guns. Every 60 days when I am home on vacation I hit the local shows and Armslist, finding 2 - 6 before returning 30 days later.

Have pretty much laid off the Smiths.
Shotguns are another story, 5 in the last year, all double guns. Two are already set to go down the road. I wanted to try side X sides. Nope!! Not my cup of tea. I will get them liquidated and buy a nice O/U.

It was going OK (-ish) until those Beretta 81s came up. Now I've spotted a milsurp coming to auction that I want, but only at the right price.

Half a dozen years ago I started liquidating everything I didn't shoot or have a strong attachment too. A forty year accumulation. As I sold things off I picked up a few things I wanted but had never got around to acquiring. When the smoke cleared I found I was finally where I wanted to be and with one possible exception I was totally at peace.

It's been a couple years now and I have no regrets or wants. The exception is I get an occasional itch for a 627 V-Comp. If that itch ever gets strong enough I'll scratch it but otherwise unless some stupid deal falls into my lap that I just can't pass up I'm done. And it'd have to be a really stupidly cheap/desirable deal. :D

It had been about eight months since I bought a gun, then I got a wild hair I wanted a Bond Deringer 4 1/2 " barrel Snake Slayer 4.5. 45/410. I have been trying to sell some to thin the herd both pistols and long guns no one is buying in this area. I have had a Kimber Royal on consignment for 2 months.

It's been a hot minute for me too but I'm saving up for a specific gun. I learned how to withstand the temptation of jumping on a good deal just because it's a good deal. It's not easy but I rather wait and get what I want. Until then I keep buying ammo... it's also nice to have :)

Didn't buy a firearm from '82-'08.
Son turned 21 and he got started buying in '08.
His family moved to the Rockies last year and I'm trading and buying appropriate firearms.
South Florida fishing and Rocky Mountain hunting.... surf and turf forever.
Just need a bigger bore upper for the Colt, a newer wheelbow and equestrian skills. :D

I got burned on a K-22 by a fellow member here and it put a bad taste in my mouth that put me off buying any more firearms. It will be a long long while before that taste leaves and I have any interest in buying.

My moratorium came about early this year, when my wife's medical expenses went into overdrive. I have been able to make a few trades this year. Dumping most of my poly-by-golly firearms and replacing them with real steel.

Since I recently took a good look at my safes, I found over a dozen handguns and 5 rifles I haven't even fired yet. I'm going to shoot them all before I buy anymore. Might find out I can't shoot some of them well & go from there.

2019 moratorium is alive and well! A stainless steel S&W 1911 with a rail, M586 with 6" barrel and Patridge front sight, Mossberg M44B bolt action with tubular magazine and original 3/4" Weaver scope were all price to low to pass up.

The good news is that I already have all the Mossberg accessories to upgrade to a modern scope. There is something neat about a rifle that holds 17 rounds and is easy to load!

My gun room keeps getting put off because of it.
I've tried, truly I have, but then another comes along before I can get started on my room...
I figure if I go ahead and rip up the carpet and paint my room it'll get the "motivational" juices flowing and keep me focused until I finish it.
