Anyone else on a gun buying moratorium ?

Kind of lost interest in new acquisitions since my wife passed away, although I already had what anyone but me and Dick Armey would call enough guns. Noticed that I was bit older (now 74), and most of my heirs were not interested. I can afford to buy almost anything I really want, but don't see a good reason.

I did, within the last year, buy a Ruger Mark II Stainless because of the price ($100), and it has been used by some of my students. I also happened upon a C*** Huntsman 4.5" in near-perfect condition at a more normal price, and bought it because I liked it and had mags and a holster already.

Other than that, not buying guns. Will probably slowly sell a few to folks that want them.

If you think it's gonna get cheaper when your daughter gets our of daycare I got some bad news for ya.......:(

Yeah, I hear that Caj. There's already the dance lessons and whatever else. On top of everything else. But maybe daycare costs less down in the Parish. Up here, y'all, you want your girl edumacated proper like, it's 3 hundo a WEEK. PRE K. But i'll Make good and gaddamn sure she goes to law school too.

I hear 1200 a month can buy a guy a swamp. Never mind the house he builds in it. Never mind a THANG or two on the side! Up here it's piss in the wind.

My recent root canal set me back the cost of 3 nice S&Ws:eek: So I'll have to quit buying, and beg for food for a couple months. Then Christmas approaching ya know ;):D

Not adding anymore lately but still doing a bit of trading. Every so often one comes along you just have to have, and we all have a few we don't shoot anymore for one reason or another.

I have no buying moratorium, but right now it appears there is a moratorium by the manufacturers on making anything that interests me. :D

My last purchase was a P320 (M17-version). I admit I like it, but it's nothing that thrills me. There are a couple of new S&W revolvers I'd like to own, but every time I go look at them the "aesthetics" are such that I come home empty-handed.

So it goes with the new stuff. There's nothing much really "new," and the materials and finishing of anything I can afford (that doesn't include SO-series Berettas, for example ;)) just don't much interest me.

Maybe before too long I'll try a lightweight hunting rifle. I have my eyes on one model that meets the lightweight criteria, and all the others, except it's not walnut and polished steel. I guess, for what it is, I can live with that. :D

I broke down on Monday and bought a new gun. A Colt 1911 subcompact 3 in. barrel, 9 mm. blued. Because I bought it through the Military Exchange I get to drive to Selfridge AFB/ Air National Guard base in Harrison township Michigan ( just outside of Mt Clemens Mi). did I get a deal, no taxes, no shipping fees I get to have dinner with my brother and spend 16 hours in the truck with my wife. Now I call that a deal (mostly). Vets and retirees if you buy a gun from the Exchange it will be delivered to a military base in your state. so all state laws apply.

Years ago I sold off my Model 29 collection to help my wife when she got into financial trouble. Thought I would never own another 29. Well, I recouped it all,and then some

...and Doc Holiday...one of our Basset Hounds running up a $4000 dollar vet bill...

...it's gonna be a while...

I am sort of. This year I only bought 2 Savage .17 hmr's, a 5" 27-2 (how could you not buy that), and recently commissioned a builder to whip me up an M40a1 clone.

I did sell a pistol this week to offset things, a 7.5" Ruger New Vaquero in .45, but I already regret that.

Yes.......Two boys in college this year.............. so I swore off buying at least for the two semesters...................... as the eldest is a Senior, younger is a Freshman..... both at the U of " the Burgh" main.

but I fell off the wagon earlier this month for a LNIB 686-5 4inch round butt for $500

Tomorrow is the NE OHIO S&W Fall "Bunching"............. lord help me!!!!!!!

Notice how few Californians have responded to this post? It's 'cause everything we lust for can't be sold in our state. And a sad state of affairs that is! Last one I bought was several years ago when a lady offered to sell me her late husband's model 10-5. He was in law enforcement and his duty gun was pristine and too nice to pass up. As a personal party transfer the state of California couldn't block the sale. Hope all of you out there in other states don't let your state sink to our level.

Not a moratorium but not finding anything that grabs my attention. Went to a third show today and there was just nothing that excited me.

I've been under a self-imposed gun buying moratorium for years, it just never works.

I like scarcer pre-ban rifles (7.62x39 Valmets, Belgian FNs), and they're rare enough that when I encounter one at a reasonable price I like to jump on it when I can.
