Anyone else use these "ugly" grips

I remember buying a new 686 revolver several years ago and thinking, man those Hogue grips are ugly! However, after using them I decided nothing else felt so comfortable in my hand. I have fairly large hands and that forward lump on the right hand side just positions my trigger finger properly. I have since saved them and used them on other revolvers and they now reside on my 686-4.

Just wondered out of curosity whether anyone else uses them or if they just immediately threw them away. Please excuse the poor photo.

I love those "ugly grips". Have had them (or some other variation) on almost all my range toys. They just feel great, but for carrying, they catch on clothing a lot.

I still have those mounted on my Mod. 65 from when I carried it for duty.
They are not pretty and I hate how they look, but you can't deny how well they fit my hand.

I bought Hogue grips when they were first introduced in wood, two piece. When the rubber ones were introduced, I began using them because they fit my hand and firmed up my ability to hold the gun. They may be ugly, but they work for me and thus I have them on most of my guns and all the shooters wear them.

That's like the Pachmayr grips on my 442, I've trimmed them for speedloaders, they're a perfect fit with a Laserlyte laser and I know they're not the most attractive grips but they're infinitely practical for my purpose as a grip for a concealed carry revolver.

Yeah, I should have worded my post a little diffferently. It's not that I think Hogue rubber grips are ugly. It's just the type that I have has that protrusion on the upper right side that covers alot of the frame. Anyway, it works for me.

got a set of these "ugly" grips on my 586 4". i wear it at work at the LGS, and i might as well have a caveman club and a torch as far as the riff-raff that frequent the store are concearned. would love to see any of those dopes with the plastic fantastic guns beat me at 25 yards, not that i don't own any plastic guns ( G36, G30, G21, G19, and an XD or two)...

I switched these factory grips out for Pachmayr Compac Pro's and the put them back on after I found out I shoot better with the stock grips. Don't know who makes these for S&W

I not only use Hogue grips on several of my guns (including a 325PD I would have sold if Hogues didn't exist), I use even uglier grips (Rogers/Safariland orangish plastic) on several of my K-frame square-butt .38 Spls. They both are some of the best grips ever made.

I have to admit some wood looks better but the stock rubbers on my 686-4 4" and 629-4 6" sure feel nice. Like noted above, they fill the hand nicely and I have small/med hands.

I have Hogues on my 460 magnum. I'd love to put some beautiful wood grips on it, but I fear the pain that will ensue when shooting it.

MAy do it anyway.
