I love those "ugly grips". Have had them (or some other variation) on almost all my range toys. They just feel great, but for carrying, they catch on clothing a lot.

Hogue also makes them in nylon, which will not catch on clothing. Although, they are not as soft to hold. My department issued those in the late 70's or early 80's and I see that they are still offered today.

My ugly grips

I have a 686-3 with the original S&W target style grips. However, I use a set or Ugly grips that S&W used on their model 10 before they made it part theri classic line. I always shoot the 686 with the rubber grips beause they are so much more comfortable to shoot.

To all of you who have called the Hogue grips ugly, I wish you to apologize for hurting Mr. Hogue's feelings. Bad, bad, bad.

From now on, if you don't like his rubber grips, please just say, "They are not my cup of tea."

I'm thinking Mr. Hogue could care less. He's smiling all the way home from the bank. He makes a great product. That's why we buy it. I bought his finger grips for both my Sigs.

I still have the Hogue monogrips on my Service 66 (replaced my M19). I thought they were butt ugly. But I was shooting some really hot loads... with service stocks or targets, it was re-grip after every shot. With the Hogues, I could rip off 6 & the gun was more firmly in my grip than I started. Something in there that doesn't meet the eye. They are still ugly but I never wanted to beat up pretty wood grips in service. They've grown on me over the years... like the look on SS.
I'm about to dig out a RB set for my ex-Aussy PD 66 which is now my house gun.

Or, Something to the effect of, those ugly devils are my cup of tea!

All my regulary used S&W's have houge rubbers on em. Really don't like that right side advertising section on the L-Frame size. Also use them on BHPs.

Especially found of the k/L frame rubber bantams, and wish they made them for rb N-frame snubbies!
