Hello
I am looking at a ATI CSG 522 22 cal rifle.
These come in the standard model, a light weight model, carbine, etc.
I have not found anyone who owns one of these.
Anyone on here have experience with these?
i just wonder if these are even worth considering? If so, which model is the best?
On the web auctions, most of them are getting no bids, and the ones that are getting bids are not bringing close to the list price.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.
For some reason that link is not found. I even tried copying the link in a new window.

I had one for a short time. Lot's of fun of course but I didn't expect it to hold up after several thousand rounds.

They did have problems with roll pins backing out and causing extensive damage but I'm not sure how big a problem it was.

Personally I would buy an M&P 15-22. It will hold up longer and it will be easier to find magazines and aftermarket products for.

really? i click on it and it works...but anyway type in google ATI CSG 522 22 cal rifle review should pull right up as first or second link

Thank you - I found the website with the review.
I also went on You Tube and looked at some of the reviews. Seems that many people do not like the way the bolt functions (or does not function) whichever is the case.
Seems like feeding is a problem. And the sight leaves a lot to be desired.
Maybe I should look for a S&W M&P 22. They are more money but I want something that will last.:D

If you want an MP5 clone, the H&K MP5-22 is pretty nice. It gets good reviews for the most part and Cabela's had them in stock back when I was looking in January. The sights were much nicer than the ones in the pictured review of the GSG version.
H&K 22 Rimfire - MP5 A5

I have one and so does a friend of mine, neither of us have had any issues. They are accurate and fun to shoot. For $400, I did not expect an HK, I suspect that's the secret to my happiness with it.

My shooting buddy and I both have one, actually he had 4. He gave 3 to his kids if I remember right.

Fun gun, accurate, easy to shoot fast, easy to load the mags, generally just a lot of fun to play with. Good gun with a red dot.

Somewhat putzy to clean but very reliable so I rarely do a full tear down and clean.

It is actually the GSG 522. I have one and the AR15/22. For the money get the AR. More accurate and many more options. Sig also makes a 22 worth getting. I believe it is called the 552.

sporting goods coupon for GSG 522

I used a coupon from a local sporting goods chain and got roughly $100 off the normal price (under $300). I have added an adjustable folding stock since the factory stock seems a little short for me. I am purchasing a conversion kit that offers the HK style front sight (GSG 5) and purchased a surplus HK rear sight but have not installed these yet. I hope it gets me on target quicker than the current open style sights.
I have read that much of the feeding problem occurs with sticking magazine parts in the follower tabs and groove. I may try sanding and graphite powder but will not use oil to lube the magazines. I am interested in using a magazine coupler if anyone has any experience with these. Any suggestions welcome.

GSG 522 Conversion Accessories

Got my GSG 5 conversion kit for my GSG 522.

I like the cocking tube assembly with the hooded GSG 5 HK type front sight. I kept the GSG 522 cocking handle since mine was made of metal and the finish matched the tube assembly better. Installed the GSG 5 lower. Probably can mount a hogue grip or similar rubber grip easier over the smooth surface. I have purchased HK push pins to replace the straight screw head bolts. It is much better with the push pins. Do not purchase the GSG 5 bolt/screw upgrade pack if you have a GSG 522( as seen in the GSG 5 videos on youtube). It will not work with the GSG 522. The GSG 522 bolts screw into a molded plastic assembly and not a detented socket that you could mount a nut into. If you tried to drill out the plastic you would void the warranty for sure. If you have a GSG 5 the bolt upgrade works.

I mounted an ATI claw mounted upper rail and removed the plastic rail. It is very solid. I kept the top receiver cap the same with the open screw holes. I could have replaced the assembly with one from the GSG 5 conversion kit without the screw holes. I may want to put the old rail on at some time and will need the holes.

I really like the ATI adjustable folding stock. When folded the gun fits perfectly in a soft case for a paintball gun that I picked up from Dunhams for under 20 bucks. The case has pockets in the side for magazines, optics, slings, cleaning supplies, and ammo. You would have to have a folding stock to get it to fit in the case. The stock also has a great attachment point for a single point sling.

Picked up a 3 rail flashlight mount on gunbroker for under 20 bucks. They are going for over 50 on amazon. Got a magazine coupler from amazon though for around 15. All I need are a couple more magazines and I am set. (3 22rnd magazines so far I want 5) Brownells has a good price for these last I looked. Have no interest in the drum magazine. I hear it is a pain. Will not fire the last 10 rounds once the spring compresses.

I have spent a under 200 dollars for conversion parts and
extra magazines. I am around 500 dollars for gun and accessories. Worth it to me for a tricked out 22lr carbine.
