What are the local residents doing to stop the problem? Are locals meeting with the city leaders and/or voicing their complaints in any way? Are the people in control the majority? I haven't seen any news coverage about this at all. I would think the citizens of these cities would have a say in some way how their cities are run. Just asking

I live 30 miles as the flies crow from downtown Chicago. 50 percent or more of the people there ether participate in or support the riots. This bunch includes everything from teen killers and mopes that have never worked and make a living praying on citizens. The other 50 percent has their heads so far up their butts they'll never see daylight. The latter 50 percent previously would not own a gun.

I just read that one of my most favorite columnists Michelle Malkin (little lady with a big mouth:)) was attacked while trying to speak at a Pro Police rally in Denver. She has it all on video, the Police did nothing! :eek:Folks can look it up.
Our local Newspaper used to have her column but has not carried it for a long time now
Our Country is a mess, people are not protesting they are destroying things and inciting riots!

I lived in a city that had a couple riots in the 60s. We had a very tough mayor and a even tougher police department. They calmed things down fast.

Flash forward to today and the old curse is very apparent ''we are living in interesting times!''

First and foremost in my mind when thinking about these cities is that the leadership is duly elected by a majority of its residents. While my heart goes out to the minority that suffers under majority rule, there's little I or anyone else that doesn't live there can do about it. They have to fix this themselves...but since the majority doesn't think there is anything to fix, I wont hold my breath waiting.

Now I read that these cities are upset that the Feds are involved ??DHS All I can say here as it is,
Why can't the National Guard deployed??

National Guard was utilized to get Pres Trump across the street to a church in June. Some guard members were not happy about being put at odds with members of their own race who were "demonstrating".

I can't remember what city it was in, but apparently in at least one city grand juries are refusing to indict rioters and looters.

The "Riot Cities" tend to have mayors and city council members and police chiefs and even judges who directly or indirectly support the rioting & rioters and we all know their real underlying purpose in doing so.

So have I ever lived in such a city? Nope. Never have, never would. I wouldn't even visit such cities unless I had no other choice. Boston is the closest big city to me and, while not as violent as say Chicago, I still avoid it like the plague. One reason: the Suffolk County District Attorney (i.e., the DA for Boston) is a moonbat's moonbat who doesn't believe in prosecuting most crimes short of murder. Crazy, but true. Street criminals have a free, unrestricted reign in Boston these days.

Contrary to some narratives, it's not just the 'riot cities' that have protests.

I was driving through a small, very conservative manufacturing town a couple of weeks ago. Slowing down for the 30mph limit through 'town,' I was surprised to see several dozen placards held by a large protest group of close to 150 individuals.

There was no rioting, no violence. It was surprising to see such a large group marching in a tiny town, population ~2000. This is not a big-city phenomenon.

My wife and I went joyriding Sunday about 6pm. Went to the epicenter of Louisville's riots, Jefferson Park, 5th & Liberty. If I wanted trouble I could have found all I wanted. We got the hell out of there.

Downtown Louisville is wasted. Weak mayor and weak governor.

This group, NFAC, is coming this weekend. Google it to see what it stands for. Expecting 4 times as many as went to Stone Mtn Georgia a couple weeks ago. Mayor will probably give them keys to the city and make them Kentucky Colonels.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell for Chicago. Certainly city government (Mayor , aldermen and State's attorney) are fully in support of the rioters. Gangs of teens are roaming downtown every weekend -cops are ordered to ignore them. Note, the local media are suppressing that little tidbit.

Yep, both living and dead.

Imagine living in Portland OreGone.

Seems typical that nobody here actually lives or appears to have been there.

Mostly hype to get folks like you worked up.

I've been to downtown Portland a few times in the last couple of weeks for medical/legal appointments.

Nothing going on during the day at all. A few blocks around the courthouse showed graffiti and obvious police presence. I guess that's where at night a hard-core group of "protesters" has been active. I haven't been this week; from what I hear, the new federal snatch tactics have provoked some larger crowds again in the last few days, which was probably the plan.

Otherwise, what makes downtown hell is the same as the last 40 years: you can't find parking anywhere within walking distance of where you need to be.

Riot cities

The wife and I had lunch with our city councilman (who she supported in the last election) and expressed our deep concerns. We communicate with him regularly.

He has been helpful to some degree but the majority on the city council and our mayor are loath to allow the police to effectively enforce the law.

I have emailed the mayor several times to urge him to crack down on the lawlessness. In response to the chaos he fired the police chief and hired a new one - remains to be seen whether this will help. Fingers crossed.

If we were younger we would move out of town, even though the area in which we live is in my view safe. But we will without a doubt face increased property tax to fund the repair of all the damage, overtime for police and lost revenue from closed businesses. When I drive through downtown I call it "plywood city." I cannot imagine a major business choosing our city for a new business location, so city revenue will likely decrease as people and existing businesses leave.

Truly sad.

In case you have not guessed, I live in Richmond, VA.

Here in NJ even the liberals have recognized that Newark never really recovered from the 1967 riots, the only thing that has kept Trenton going is that it is the state capitol. In nearby liberal Princeton they have a regular BLM March with the chanting, etc. The restaurants have established outdoor seating, I was there one day when the marchers went by, no one paid them any attention.
