I am, because he was a good and respectable actor. I never heard any negatives about him either and--important--he was a Texan.

That said--what movies of his did you favor?

For me-his top two are:
Next of Kin:

W/ Liam Neesen as his older brother::

Bill Paxton as his other Brother:

Roadhouse seems intentionally lame yet I can't keep from watching it whenever it's on. In "Tall Tales" he played Pecos Bill who hung out with Paul Bunyon and John Henry. It was fantasy but he was one of the most realistic cowboys ever. He should have been in westerns. He packed a pair of Merwin & Hulberts in it.

An Excellent Actor

Patrick was indeed an excellent actor. I especially enjoyed "Ghost." Unfortunately, I tend to stereotype Hollywood types for their fast and irresponsible lifestyles although I'm sure that some of them were divorce, drug and booze free, quiet, stay-at-home types.

One word, "Roadhouse." Yes it is really bad in terms of "Oscar-worthiness," but it is an ultimate man movie!

Red Dawn and that bad surfer/undercover FBI movie (Point Break?) were cool, too. He was in a lot of movies...

Swayze seemed like a good guy, sad to see him go so young.

He was my neighbor, sorta......

I have a cabin in the Pecos Wilderness between Santa Fe and Las Vegas, NM. Back when P. Swayzee was making Red Dawn near Las Vegas, he came to love the area and bought a really cool old 1930s stone home and ranch near the village of El Porvenir about 3 miles from my cabin. After extensive renovation he and his wife lived there for numerous months out of every year. His wife still comes there. They had horses, ATVs etc. He was frequently spotted all over the area and was known to be very personable and unassuming, especially for being such a big celebrity in an area that doesn't very often see celebrities. New Mexico misses him too.

Swayze starred in a television show called "The Beast." It lasted only a few episodes before he became too ill to continue. I enjoyed the show a lot. Patrick was a good man and is missed.

Red Dawn and Road House, all the way!
My SIL saw him one time down at that shopping center in Houston that has the ice rink.
They were shooting a promo for an Arabian Horse Show. The ice was covered with plywood and Swayzee rides out on an Arabian. As he circles the rink the horse gets a hoof between the sheets. Multiple handlers appear and get him and the horse off the ice without injury.

"I am, because he was a good and respectable actor. I never heard any negatives about him". You also never heard any negatives FROM HIM! He didn't use his stardom to promote anything or go around shooting his mouth off about things that he did or didn't like about this country. Just a down home kind of actor. He is sorely missed. Roadhouse is a favorite of mine also.

Not only a good actor, but in amazing shape. For a while when he was healthy every time you saw him he looked more amazing than the last time. He and my dad died of pancreatic cancer at the same time. It is not a good way to die.

I watched Road House the other day, and have decided to stop carrying a gun. The way he kept disarming and killing people in the final scenes, made me realize guns are useless. Ed

Red Down of course !

I liked it more when I was younger but-ill still watch it. Mostly its because vets like Ben Johnson, Harry Dean Stanton, William Smith, Lane Smith & Powers Boothe all being in it.
