Just recently my Windows Phone has stopped taking input from my favorite scanner website when using the Explorer browser and the 4G wireless. Weird thing is that it works perfectly via wifi and my home Internet. I would like to see if it's just my phone or maybe my cell service provider. Anybody want to run a couple of small tests for me?

I really liked the setup of mine, better than android or apple. But gave mine up last summer because app support was going away.
I figured wouldnt be long before nothing was supported and it just stopped working. But a much easier system to use.

I would be glad to throw your phone out the Window.:D

Sadly, we may be going down that road for the reasons pointed out by rogerwnuss.

I would gladly swap to something running Android, or if all else fails iOS, but then they will want to lock me into another contract. Then you can GUARANTEE that they will tell me that I cannot continue under my present terms and the cost will mysteriously be more etc etc.

To be honest, as much as I liked being able to use the scanner website, it won't drive me to get another phone. I'll leave that for when this thing dies.

I haven't been following Windows very close but I thought the new Win10 compatibility between all Windows devices was supposed to be working well. Not so?

Can you look up the app 's producer? See if they say they no longer support Windows version?

It's not an app. I was simply using the Internet Explorer media player like you do on your desktop. The phone plays Youtube videos via 4G just fine. It plays the scanner website OK if I connect via the house wifi. It won't play the scanner site via 4G. Pretty darned weird.

My wife and I hung in as long as we could with Windows phone, but little by little everything stopped working. Don't know who your carrier is (ours is Verizon), but you should be able to carry over your same plan. Obviously, if you get new phones on a contract (subsidized), there's going to be an extra monthly charge for them, but the rest of the plan should be the same. In our case, we bought our new Androids outright, so our plan and monthly bill is exactly the same as it was before.

I have been a Verizon customer for nearly 20 years, and used to have a Windows phone. Support began falling off and I switched to an Android. Pretty painless really. If you don't want to re-up your contract to get a new phone, buy one on eBay. You can get brand new Verion compatible phones that are a generation or two old pretty cheap.

Unless you're on Sprint there is no need to buy your phone from the carrier. All unlocked phones can be used on AT&T and T Mobile. Some (usually referred to as universal unlocked) can be used on Verizon. I buy my phones from amazon or B&H Photo or Newegg rather than from the carrier. Swap out the sim card and you are usually good to go. Sometimes there are a few settings to change, but it really isn't that difficult. The carrier's website will generally have instructions.

Of course there are now three different sizes of sim card, so you may have to buy a new one if the one you have doesn't fit the new phone. Usually they will charge you around ten bucks for a new one at the carrier's store.

Bought my last Windows phone gray market on E bay and had ATT set it up. works OK, but having similar issues. My wife bought a used I phone and had ATT set it up. No new contract on either one. I'm looking to change to Android due to apps and lack of Windows support. ATT no longer lists any Windows phones.
