Saw one at the shop the other day but didn't get to handle it. I understand they switched the mainspring around to get a slimmer grip, and also added the short reset trigger.

Anyone shot it yet? Supposedly you will be able to eventually retrofit an older P226 with the new slimmer grips.

Aaron, like you I just got to look, not shoot, but they do have a great feel. I sure would like to shoot one.

I have not shot the E2 but I liked the SRT so much I installed it in all my Sigs. A guy on the Sig forum has a FFL Gun shop and sold them to me direct. The trigger kit is $50-60. Used to be Sig would not sell them even to FFL's. You had to send the gun in. It's just a sear and safety lever If they sell the grips that would be great although I do not find a problem with the originals.

The E2 series has an additional machining cut in the frame to clear the revised mainspring assembly. So, it won't be possible to convert an older standard frame to the new grip unless your willing to take a grinder to the frame.

Personally, I am a bit borderline with the standard grip and will probably get an E2 at some point. Fact is that one of the guns I shoot best with is my single stack P239 and it's because it fits my hand perfectly. With my P229 I have to "sidesaddle" the grip just a bit and in rapid fire strings I tend to drift right.

With due respect, this is not true reference grinding the frame. I have a set of E2 grips on my P226 in .40. A couple of parts changes (de-cocking lever is one) and couple of minutes later they were on. A set also went on a P-228. I have shot the e2's and really liked the grip hence the changes on my guns. I personally do not care for the "thin trigger" but have an SRT in all of my classic line SIGs.

Can you post a picture of your 228. I would like to see them on there and see what it looks like on an old school Sig.

Thanks
Todd

You have just confirmed something that I suspected. I've seen pics of the E2 frames that show an additional clearance cut for the revised mainspring strut. I sort of wondered if that cut was really needed because Engineers to like to play it safe, so I sort of suspected that cut was to provide a minimum level of clearance, probably somewhere in the range of 1/16 to 1/8 inch. What you have confirmed is that the orignial frame probably has enough clearance for function, however not as much as the Engineers desired. So, I am not really surprized that the E2 parts function just fine on your P226. It's good to know because at some point I just might think about converting my P229 Elite Stainless to the E2 configuration now that I know it's possible.
