Anyone try the KSDgrips??

zx9rt1....that looks fantastic.....maybe even better than fantastic ;).....BUT....has anyone gave a report on live fire function yet......if they are secure on the frame i want to order a set for my 4506-1....2 more for the 3913's...and patiently wait for the 4516 version:D

nocents. The fit is very good and snug. My wife put 100rds down range with it last night with zero issues. I put another 50rds down range as well and the fit is fantastic! No wiggle/wobble or rattle. To me they feel just a tad wider than the factory grip and lot better all around. For the money the grip is well worth the price in my humble opinion. I like them enough to invest in a pair for my 645, and 745.

I'm still not clear on this. Factory grips have a tab that slides under the frame and locks down the front side edges of the grips. What accomplishes this on these grips? The only attachment point I've seen on these is the grip pin thru the block at the rear.

I havent received it yet but I just bought a 5946 with a straight backstrap, would these grips work on that?

There are no tabs. The fit very precise and I think it stays put with the rigidity of the wood and of course the standard grip pin the bottom, back corner. I haven't shot with mine yet though so take that for what's its worth.

Mine came in today. At first blush, they look really really cool.

I tried installing them on my 1006, and ran into a little issue - the black plastic cup that holds the metal main spring cup doesn't sit flush to the back of the frame. In other words, in order to drive the pin back in (ie, the pin that holds the grip and the main spring fixture), you need three hands: one to push the plastic cup support in, one to drive a punch through the hole to hold everything in place, one to hold the pin in place, and one to hammer the pin back in. Four hands, I guess. :)

I feel like one of two things is happening here:
1. I don't know how to install the grip properly?
2. The wrong plastic cup support fixture was sent?

I almost got the pin back in, but something didn't feel right about the entire installation. Either way, I don't want this to sound like I'm throwing KSD under the bus here - I have confidence the grips will work once I know what's going on. Plus, did I mention that they look even better in real life than in the pictures?

Mr.Slokett454.I am here if you need new block.installation vise members can share their thoughts.

What is KSD response time in answering emails? I have email them twice, 5 days ago and 8 days ago. They have not yet responded.

emails

I have emailed KSD several times and they always respond quickly. I emailed them yesterday with a question and I received a response in less than 5 minutes.

KSD - Thanks for the offer to help! Can you post a step by step of installation? I can't seem to figure out how to get the grip pin back in without 4 hands, or risking damage to the grips/frame. It seems like the plastic mainspring support should sit flush with the bottom of the grip, but doesn't.

Mr jjd79.I checked my mailbox.I found one unanswered question.it might be yours.Mr slokett454.I know nothing about s&w autoloaders.I saw my boss one time. he put the grip on first from top.He left space at bottom for the block.he slide it in than he pushed the pin in.I sold many grips to forum members. They might help you about this quicker than me.

The way I put them on my wife's 5906 was after removing the factory grip was to hold the pistol straight up, barrel facing up, take the new grip, sliding the top of the grip at an angle into the beavertail with the hammer strut and spring still visible, slightly start the black plastic locking block on to the hammer spring cup, keep pressure at the top of the grip, angle the bottom of the grip to the frame, while inserting the locking block further into the grip, place the butt of the pistol, grip, and locking block on a table, insert small punch through the grip and locking block while still pressing down on the pistol butt to table. Then take your factory grip pin and start insert it from the left until it pushes the smaller punch out to the right side of the grip approximately an 1/8 of an inch, take a very small plastic headed or similar type hammer and gently seat the grip pin all the way through. Verify hammer operation and enjoy! Mine fit snugly with zero wobble or play. Shot approximately 150 rds with no lose feeling at all. I apologize for the poor instruction, but that is what worked for me.

The problem with that approach is that the locking block that came with mine does not sit flush to the bottom of the grip or frame. It needs to be pushed an additional .25" into the grip/frame before the holes line up. This presents two issues:

1. You need four hands to complete assembly
2. I'm not confident the locking block is correct for my pistol and therefore not confident that the pressure on the main-spring is correct

I really need to bite the bullet and sign up for a photo-sharing account so I can better describe what I'm talking about.

Will KSD send you another locking block? As for using 4 hands, I will agree with you 100% on that. My wife thought I had come up with some sort of new Yoga position![emoji3] I'm curious to see what he can do for you. Keep us posted if you can.

on this site you dont need a hosting account.........and Photobucket is free as long as you dont try to upload the Library of Congress;)

I received the KSD Grips for my CS9 today, they look so much classier than the stock hogue or modified delrin grips. They are beautiful, excellent workmanship, and they came within the exact time frame that Mustafa advised, which is amazing considering this was international shipping. Thanks KSD!
