It's all dammed statistics until it gets personal. I've had the (elderly) parents of three friends die in the last two weeks with "suspected" covid symptoms. They don't test old folks, especially after they are dead. I'm "only" 67 next week, but I am also immuno-suppressed due to rheumatoid arthritis, through no fault of my own, and associated required drugs that let me live a relatively pain free life for now. I consider getting the virus to be a death sentence. I'll wear my mask on the rare excursion and expect you to do the same, thank you very much for caring.

I don't believe what anyone says about this Virus anymore. Everyone has an axe to grind and could care less about any objective math. I do believe that despite the medical danger with 20% of the workforce unemployed, we need to get back to work. Those who are retired and can stay at home, more power to you. We will all get this virus sooner or later, and I prefer a recession with medical risks to a depression with the same risks delayed.

According to today's Wall Street Journal the US Death Rate from Corvid19 is about 6%. Originally they said the Death Rate would be about 3% as opposed to the Common Flu which is around 1%.
Another interesting number is that the USA has about 1/3 of all the reported Covid19 cases world-wide. Considering that we only have about 330 million people - that's pretty sad! Of course we can't believe any numbers coming out of China - so that might tweak the numbers a little. It seems that India has a much smaller number of cases - very interesting! They have 35,000 cases with a death rate of less than 1100 in a Country with a population of 1.3 Billion! Hmmmmmmm
Lets see. The US has 330,000,000 people. With a death rate of 6% we are going to lose 19,800,000 folks. Lots more dying left to do I guess.
Here we have 20 dying from it. # 19 at the Vet hospital was 94 and on end of life watch, but he was positive for the Corvid19 virus.

Starting Monday May 4th, my county is opening all the parks, and restaurants.
Restaurants that don't have outside dinning can only operate at 25% volume.

Considering all the compelling evidence that Dr's are being told, compelled, ordered, threatened or coerced to list ANY respiratory illness as COVID, I'm having a hard time believing the numbers. Especially from any news rag from the east coast!
That's like saying a gunshot wound is lead poisoning....well, no it's not exactly. A piece of lead caused the death, but it wasn't toxicity in the blood that caused death; it was loss of said blood, laceration of tissues and crushing of bone structure. Not exactly symptoms of lead poisoning.
I don't get the freak out, we've had worse than this but this one is a massive freak out. This type of response to illnesses is untenable. Seems a bit too convenient in an election year.....

As of yesterday Iowa had 7,884 folks who have tested positive to Covid19. 170 Iowans have died. Over a 2% death rate. But only 46,000 or so Iowans have been tested. (out of 3.155M folks). We were never locked down but schools and businesses closed. Today 77 of 99 counties opened restaurants and fitness centers. To date my county has had one case of the virus and no deaths.
My county has had 6 cases but 4 of those came from employment at a Minnesota meat processor.

Excuse me. My daughter is a lawyer and a very good one. Are you calling her an "infection on this country"? Seems to me you should consider an apology to all lawyers. And maybe think who you might be offending before you post a comment like that again. It must be a rare happening when a person can go through life never having to obtain legal services but then you probably don't have a will, never got a divorce, been in a lawsuit, or charged with DUI or any other crime.

India numbers must be as reliable and credible as China numbers.
You must free yourself from some "numbers".
One can monkey with the numbers and skew statistics in order to support whatever their position may be. COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. are not necessarily deaths that occurred as a result of having the infection. Those who died of other causes and just happened to also have the infection get counted as having died due to the infection. Those who were never tested, but if there was any reason to think they had the virus get counted as having died due to the infection. This inflates the mortality rate and skews the statistics.
If one were to consider the number of people who have been found to have antibodies, meaning they had the virus and successfully rid themselves of the virus, even without having symptoms of the infection, the mortality rate is much closer to 1%, perhaps even lower.

Don't worry Washer, everybody derides us lawyers until they need one. I am sure that your daughter is already used to it. Maybe we should go the way of other countries and dispense with all those rights and only allow lawyers on juries, that way we would not need to spend time explaining things to juries, and not require the IRS to prove its cases before its seizes your property, and not burden our LEO's with reasons to arrest people. And we could ditch that first amendment stuff too. And guns, well you can forget about that. Get rid of all the lawyers, comrades!
Perhaps someone can explain how a bunch of armed yahoos invading a civic government office shouldering AR's, a few carrying nooses and Nazi signs, all screaming give us back our freedom, either changes the trajectory of the Covid virus, or doesn't taint responsibile gun owners with the same stupidity.
