APARRANTLY THE DEATH RATE IS DOUBLE WHAT THEY PREDICTED IN THE US!

According to today's Wall Street Journal the US Death Rate from Corvid19 is about 6%. Originally they said the Death Rate would be about 3% as opposed to the Common Flu which is around 1%...
Common flu has a death rate of about .1%, last I checked.

The 6% you're seeing is the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 out of the number of confirmed (tested) COVID-19 cases.

The actual death rate of COVID-19 is unknown, because the true percentage of the population infected is unknown.

The percentage of deaths correctly attributable to COVID-19 won't be known until there's true representative sampling of tested, confirmed cases throughout the population; when that happens we'll likely see a number lower than 6%, and greater than flu's .1%, based on the best current extrapolated data, which currently estimates it to land around 1%, or 10 times deadlier than ordinary flu.

...a new little tidbit from deep in the CDC data bank...

...edit...didn't see that this had already been posted...oops...

There’s a second wave of deaths coming because this is just too hard for a number of people to get their heads around and it’s just too hard for them to live with some inconvenience. Will they cry the loudest when it finally strikes close to home? Of course they will ;-)

You are just overloaded with happy thoughts!

"If you don’t read the newspaper you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed." - Mark Twain
That's funny, Twain's great (as usual), and there's a little bit of truth to it.

Please show where I said there never was/is a problem!

Where in "Better than sticking your head in the sand and believing there is no problem" is there NYlakeside says there is no problem?

I simply stated his position is much better than the position of those who believe the whole corona thing is not a problem or just a media inflated flu. It depends on whether you include yourself in that group or not, if your included.

Do you believe there will be another rising of the death toll because some places are opening up without having their ducks in a row? Testing levels, etc. Historically the second wave of a pandemic is always worse than the initial one. Part of tthat is people always get tired of "suffering" though any kind of isolating.

Certainly do understand the fact some are worried...

...about THEIR personal well being and that of their loved ones.

But seems patently obvious that some have ZERO regard or concern for the 30 MILLION Americans who are unemployed, the school children being denied access to proper public education, food lines, and food shortages. Plus incomes lost, business closures that will never reopen, suicides, and myriad other deleterious effects.

Wish those at risk took proper responsibility for their personal well being rather than make it the responsibility of everyone else.

Be safe...be well.

I listen to the medical field rather than politicians angling for re-election...

There is a 100% solid piece of advice.

If I have a medical issue I don't ask the mayor what to do in the first place.

In the second anyone who believes a politician, left or right, who is running for election or reelection, is foolish. Their number one concern is getting you to vote for them and they will gamble everything on it if they think they must.

Explain to me what a guy like Fauci has to gain. He was already at the top of his field, he is 80 years old, he has dealt with Presidents for around 35 years. I am sure he could retire and play golf when ever and where ever he chose. Plenty of others like him and none of them are saying we got this beat. Opening back up is a good idea, etc etc.

Might get it from some MD appointee who is job scared that there is nothing to worry about, the worst is behind us.That is it.

With them it’s all must suffer until......who knows when. A vaccine? Two years?
Most of them are on pension or SS so who cares.
OTOH, some have advocated for a measured opening of the economy. Then they get painted as uncaring and contemptible.
That’s typical of the progressive southpaws.
