I replaced the stock sear in my M&P Shield and it dropped the trigger pull 1.4lbs. Now my trigger pull is 5.8 lbs according to my Lyman electronic trigger pull gauge. I'm taking it to the range tomorrow to feel how the new sear operates in my Shield. So far, so good.

I purchased my Shield in December 2015. Do you have the link to determine production dates from the serial number?

The only way to get production date from the serial # is call S&W, but if you have the box, there is a date code on that.

I went with the DCAE kit. I tried the sear alone but still the trigger was gritty, after replacing the striker block and spring it felt great.

Just the sear? What sear? Some of the Apex sears change the timing in relation to the striker block. You might want to use a fresh snap cap and see if you're getting a strike on the primer. Just as a precaution. I would hate to see you get to the range and get a click and no fire.

there is only one apex sear for the shield 9mm and M&P 45 acp (non shield). It is the same that comes with the duty carry kit for the guns mentioned above, there is no FSS kit for the shield ur other sear compatible with the shield.

I used the Apex Tactical 100-063 hard sear which I purchased from MidwayUSA here. This sear is for the S&W M&P 45 ACP and M&P Shield. There is also a video on how to install the sear at MidwayUSA WEBs site. Just click the video tab at the web site or watch it [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruCW-yACkzI"]here[/ame] on Youtube. The video also shows you how to test the sear fit in the pistol. When I tested my reassembled pistol I could also here the striker spring unload and the trigger reset when I released the trigger.

"The Apex Hard Sear was designed to enhance the performance of an already outstanding pistol. The modified geometry will not only improve the over-travel and sear reset characteristics, but will also dramatically reduce the trigger pull weight in most pistols. This sear is made from heat treated A2 tool steel for durability and long service life.
Note: Works with all current production Smith and Wesson M&P 45 series pistols, as well as the M&P Shield. NOT currently for use in the Shield 45. Does not fit in M&P series pistols chambered in 9mm, .357SIG, and .40S&W – please the M&P Fully Machined Sear."

The date code for my Shield 9mm is 02-Feb-2015.

The trigger operated perfectly at the range. My wife shot the Shield better since her shots were close to bullseye and not 5" bellow. I would recommend this Apex sear to anyone who wants a smooth softer trigger with a clean break and quick reset. S&W, are you listening?

I also replaced mine with the Apex hard sear. I had already hand polished all contact surfaces. My trigger was smooth, and heavy. The Apex fixed the "heavy". :)

glad I found this thread, though it's a bit old. I did not want to deal with punching the rear sight off, though I AM concerned with the striker block bore being gritty (thanks to Bob's videos again!)-- I don't feel a noticeable difference when manually activating the block though.

ill be looking at 100-063 sooner than later, as like someone else posted, i've shot low left on mine... however I did find myself flinching the last time at the range. =(

when dry firing, the muzzle seems to jump regardless of what part of my finger I am using to pull it-- be it at bend, tip or in the middle of the pad.

Thats how I was. Less so after swapping out the sear. I can't shoot that great, but a heavy trigger magnifies the effect.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of $45 since I'm just as lazy and half remember from looking at it earlier in the week.
