I still have my foil-covered hat, just in case.
I'm not gonna be totally, or whatever, so it's all good for the trekkers. See, any time something up there happens that should be over PGH it's lousy, cloudy weather. It'll be good for the area North of here. Punxy Phil sent me a Morse code message that said it's gonna be all good. (Only Morse code works for the underground.)

It think I saw one back in grade-school. I seem to remember using two sheets of cardboard or something like that to watch it.

Yep, 2 sheets, pin hole in one projecting the image onto the 2nd sheet.
I'd enjoy being in its path, but no way will I travel somewhere to see it. From what I've read, the projected crowds, traffic, and dearth of sufficient numbers of port-a-potties does not bode well for an enjoyable tourist experience.
We were in the totality in 2017 here in flyover country. About two minutes. Now it appears we're getting four minutes. Really creepy having the streetlights light, the birds get quiet, and the dogs start howling. If you have the chance, it's a destination experience, unless you're a curmudgeon who'd prefer being in your front lawn in your bathrobe smacking your lawn mower with a shovel . . .
Saw one while visiting my granny in D.C. many years ago. Used two paper plates, one with a small hole in the center to see its shadow image. Cool once, but I wouldn't travel far just to see one--nor a Taylor Swift concert either!
Was in center last time got glasses and t shirt and watched the whole thing. This time maybe 80%. Think I will skip it this year
For a while now I have been searching the ether for an image of that with no success. I'm not giving up as it makes quite the visual.
When I find one I will give you proper props.

I live just east of the totality boundary, but I am not planning to drive 30 miles or so west to see the full eclipse. Weather forecast today is that the South Texas path of totality is likely to be cloudy except for the area close to the Rio Grande, around Eagle Pass. If you've seen one solar eclipse, you've seen them all. I have probably seen at least a half dozen so far, so why add one more?
I wouldn't travel to see it but walking out the door and looking up is cool. Have my glasses ready, it will be different and fun. Larry
PBS just had on a 'great american eclipse' program, plays again at 1am eastern time in a few hours and again on Friday at 3pm eastern time.
How about cousin Eddie in a bathrobe, with a cigar and a beer, emptying the RV toilet in the storm drain?

Here in SW Tennessee we'll get about 90%. Good enough for me. 
Local news has been running stories about high prices and huge crowds just over in Arkansas. Little tiny towns will have 10X as many tourists as residents.
Weather man says there could be heavy clouds that day. Its a coin toss what viewing will be.

The last total eclipse for VT was 8/31/32. They only happen at any given location every 100 +- years, so yea...I'm looking forward to the spectacle. Extended weather report for here is clear and sunny.
Like other western New Yorkers here , I'm in the path of totality. I honestly could not care less. The back of my house faces south. I can sit and watch it perfectly but probably won't remember.

Forecast for Central Texas is cloud cover for the first 2/3 of the day on Monday April 8th. We're virtually dead center in totality and have to admit I was looking forward to it as we don't have to go anywhere to see it - except outside.
The irony is that we have so few cloudy days here, regardless of the season, that it "just figures." Maybe we'll catch a break at the right time - I hope so.

The Noon News had a story about local hotels cancelling ALL old reservations, and rebooking at up to 5X the price. One particular Travel Agency had 88 rooms booked since 2020. Now his tour had to find other farther away hotels and they were out thousands of dollars.
Now there's a job for Leticia James. Those hotels should pay huge fines.

Now that is ironic...and unfortunate. I think we'll luck out, our average April weather is a 60% chance of being cloudy, but our forecast is sunny and clear...hope it doesn't change.
