Long time shooter, new to AR's.

Been shopping for an AR15 and S&W's offerings.
I don't particular want the A-frame front sight and already have some Troy flip-ups.

I've noticed S&W's (and others) have various configs w/without that A-frame sight.

Is it common/easy to just switch out that sight and replace with a railed gas block? Is there any type of gas block I should avoid other than those who's rails are too low and don't match the upper's rail?

TIA

The M&P15 OR (optics ready) model comes with a railed gas block, same height as the M4 receiver rail and sounds perfect for what you want. Just add a rear sight or optic and you're golden. Many consider it the best buy in the series as it has the "old" parts list before the less expensive models introduced this year.
