As bad as canned tamales it seems.

Isn't that Goblin brand made by Alpo, a subsidiary of Purina?

While I do can meat,

I do not can that.

Blame somebody else.

Aloha,

The Wife and I find the teriyaki to be on the sweet side.

If we eat what we have left, it will be

"In Case of Hurricane Emergency"

The Portuguese Sausage flavored Spam is also a bit on the sweet side.

Spam, on SALE always sell out locally.

But, that's Hawaii for you.

It's British.
What a surprise

I didn't know that. But that explains it, then. I mean, they eat kidneys for God's sake, which redlines the needle on my Barf-O-Meter.

Just the thought of eating an animal's kidneys is enough to drive me to drink...not that it takes much to drive me to drink, you understand.

I had a buddy that used to eat Spam sandwiches at least once a week, on purpose. He also used to eat it with about a quarter inch slice of onion.

Have we met? Do I know you? Cause that's exactly what I used to do. Slice the Spam thick, brown it crispy in a cast iron frying pan, put on toast with melted cheese, thick slice of onion, and some gourmet mustard and black pepper. Two sandwiches and settle in with a good book while eating them. Mmmm mmmm mmmm. I mean, I could feel my arteries clogging up with each bite. I was a young man then, though. It's a wonder I'm still alive to tell the tale. I pass the Spam in the grocery store these days, and it turns into one of those "Get thee behind me, Satan" moments.

Canned asparagus is one of the prime ingredients of the bloody Caesar, considered by some to be the provincial mixed drink of British Columbia. Vodka, Clamato juice, Tabasco to taste and celery salt on the rim of the glass of ice, pickled asparagus to stir...try one after a hot day in the sun at the lake.

Whoever came up with clamato juice will go to The Bad Place when he dies. If the Devil will have him, that is.

The brown stuff is beef chuck roast. The yellow stuff is chicken thigh, or possibly breast. Don't recall - I've done both.

The liquid is, obviously, broth, cooked out of the meat during the canning process.

The white stuff is fat.

Come on Chaps. Grilled sheep's kidneys and gammon; not the pale imitation of bacon sold in the Western (ex?)Colonies, makes a good start to breakfast. However, I will never eat Spam, Kraft Processed cheese (the material that can substitute for shoe leather) or gritty Hershey bars again, as I had enough handed to me by GIs in the UK in the 1943-45 time frame. Appreciated at the time, but today in the US!!! Dave_n

While on the subject of canned meats...Don't forget Yoder's Canned Bacon...I ain't kidding around a bit when I say that it is likely some of the best bacon I have ever eaten. I just bought two cases to replenish the last two that were in my larder, the first time I opened a can I was pleasantly suprised at the wonderful smoked aroma and pristine white of the solidified grease. The bacon is precooked and perfectly finished, all you do is briefly toss it in the pan to warm it up then use it however you wish.

Its not in stores here but, I will bring it to the attention of some of the powers that be, at Walmart and HEBs, to see if they are willing to get it in? I'd like trying some.

Seriously, have you tried Gebhardt canned tamales?

Not sure about that spam.

But try them with some BROCCOLI...

They don't have many gebhardt products here, mainly refried beans--which I somewhat like. That ''b'' word is something I cannot do. :D
