AT&T DSL

I recently got a letter from ATT about my DSL service that did not make sense. They said my upgrade was going to add to the monthly cost. I did not order any upgrade.

At the anniversary of your original service start, they automatically up the cost 5-10-15 dollars. To ease the pain they claim that your service is improved. Open an online account with them to view your bill breakdown.

ATT wants to buy T Mobil. Makes sense. I just renegotiated a deal with T Mobil, my cell service provider for last 10 yrs.. From what I hear it may take a year to finalize the deal, after which ATT will eliminate cheapo deals like mine and unlimited minutes for others.

My experience with ATT and others.

The local cable provider here is much more expensive and offers less tv programing than the satellite companies. Their feeds go out if the wind blows 30 miles away. The internet service is way slower than ATT.

I bought a private sat system from DISH for internet since ATT did not offer DSL here. It was pricey but worked great. As long as the electricty to the modem works, the signal was there. If my power goes out, the genset goes on and there was no problems other than a large sat dish being in the middle of the back yard. Had this for seven years.

ATT came in offering DSL and I have their phone service so I bought in. I just did a speed test and I got 5.99 MBPS down and .52 Mbps up. That seems fast to me.

I have three phone lines with unlimited free national calling, caller ID, call return, call forwarding, call waiting, conference calling, inside wire protection, DSL and a few other minor things I seldom use. For the three lines, DSL and features, I pay $153 monthly. Naturally it would be cheaper if I only needed one phone line.

It is more dependable than COXcable or any other system and faster than the private satellite service that I still maintain.
