Son is visiting from Fort Hood Texas, newly married and his wife (from Canada) wanted to learn how to shoot a rifle & handgun. So since I needed to test out the CCI Tactical, we went to Concord's "United Sportsmen, Inc. Rifle-Pistol Range". We had fun, my son and his wife just loved the M&P. We got stuck on the 100yd range, so we didn't shot 1" groups, it was just learning the basic and fire control for a newbie.. The CCI worked 100% without a hitch, clean burning, good feed no FTF or FTE, this ammo was built for the M&P..

Here is my son:

Yea, Chel is from Canada, she never shot any weapon before in her life, she did great and has a new understanding of the sport. She also shot several handguns, .357 Magnum, CZ-75 9mm, .308 Beretta 84F, 1911 45cal. and Sig Sauer 2340 40cal. not to mention the AR15 5.56 and M&P 15/22.. another 4 hours on the range and the CCI Tactical came out 100% wonderful without a single issue at all. It was a great day.

CCI Blazer 525 is my absolute favorite bulk but I'll give this a shot since the Federal auto-match was kind of disappointing.

That's awesome! I love teaching/introducing people to guns. Then i convince them mine are the best haha.

Jav, the CCI Tactical is a jacketed bullet, so it doesn't leave lead in the barrel, even better than the CCI bulk lead ones I still use.

Just a minor correction, the bullets are copper plated, not jacketed, just like Federal Champions and several others.

While it's good ammo, The Tactical ammo is more marketing hype than actual difference from other copper plated CCI ammo.

Majorlk, correct your are, I just called it that from habit. Either way that's less lead to clean from my barrel. Have you tried this ammo, would love to hear how others receive it and how it performs. I've had nothing but good luck. Again I know each rifle can be picky, I only hope S&W has a good quality control so each rifle goes out all within the same tolerances. Thanks for your feedback...

I have shot probably 50k of CCI over the years, but not this stuff. Never had a problem with any CCI, including some speciality ammo no longer made (Silhouette and Green Tag Match, for example).

From what I have seen and read, it's not significantly different from any other CCI or even Federal. Lots of typical marketing hype, though. :)

Whatever works is what matters, IMHO.

Majorlk, actually they did some changes to the Tactical 22LR. First they have less powder so it is 1200 verus 1235, and they copper plated the bullet and made it a little more rounder and slender for improved feeding in semi-automatics like the M&P and Colt 22's. I too shoot the bulk CCI without issues, but I like that this one is copper plated to me means less lead buildup in the barrel for easier cleaning between multiple rounds. Check out CCI, they explain it pretty much in the description.

Also, I noticed the copper plated bullets are very tight in the casing, all of them. Winchester plated bullets spine and wiggle, thus I think causes the flyers and varied speed due to pressure variations. Just my opinion.

Interesting. FWIW, with the exception of match ammo and CCI Silhouette, everything I shoot is copper plated. CCI Green Tag was not plated and it is the most accurate .22 LR I have ever shot except Eley Ten-X. The problem with bare lead is in loads that exceed about 1,000 fps, which match ammo doesn't. Never ha a particular leading problem with either one, or RWS match, for that matter.

I haven't shot the other CCI stuff othe than CCI Bulk with lead bullets, which they worked great in my M&P. Maybe it' just a marketing thing and putting "Tactical" on the box, makes the consumer think it is designed for semi type rifles..

If so, I swallowed the bait, hook, line and sinker, man, boat and dock... but it works as planned.. I now only buy the CCI Tactical, I love them.

where do you get them all i can get here is stingers and high velocitys....

I found them at a Gun shop in San Bruno Calif. for $24 a box of 375. Purchased 3 boxes. They only had 5 boxes, all other places don't sell them yet. I could get them on line but the shipping runs almost $15 bucks, I'd rather buy two than one and shipping. Tabor's is the name of the shop.

They are lightly waxed, tight copper plated bullets to the casings, very nice rounds, worked with out a hitch in my M&P.
