Attention all FBI 1076 owners

Yes it does

Straight back grips and a magazine disconnect are a sure sign it's not an FBI gun. FBI guns came with palm swell grips and no magazine disconnect. Also, you can have a gun with those distinguishing features and still not have an FBI gun. My 1076 has those, yet was shipped to the Auburn Heights Police department and not the FBI.

Exactly,,,and there were a few other agencies that also had the 1076 with those features.. The mag disconnect should be the deciding factor as stated the FBI did not have that feature same as the VSP 1026's and I think they also had some 1076's..

Correction. Many FBI 1076s were shipped with straight #1 grips. I have a handful in my collection. Next most common were the #2 Palmswell grips. Least common are the #3 Arched grips. All FBI 1076s had the mag disconnect disabled. There are other LE agencies that insisted that the mag disconnect be left enabled. Liability issues I have been told.

BTW, if a slide has the civilian caution statement referring to the instruction manual it is a civilian version 1076. Period. Assuming of course that the slide has not been replaced at some point.

So does anyone know what serial number range were FBI guns? I've got TFP8XXX and am wondering if it could be an FBI gun.

You can call the factory they will tell you over the phone to whom/when the gun was shipped and if it is civilian or LE gun. Based on that call you can decide if a history letter is necessary.

Went to a gunshow with a couple friends to sell off a few odd guns. My one friend had a S/W for sale (595.00) , I had not seen him have the pistol before, he just acquired it lately .Asked to see it and after looking at the serial number, I advised him he might want to get a letter and see if it was worth a few more dollars.

He did..Lucky guy

Now I have to figure what to trade him for it, HA...

If I'm not mistaken, the TEU prefix means it was a Test and Evaluation Unit. That's an incredibly rare pistol, if so. I've been looking for a TEU prefix FBI 1076 for quite a few years. It's one of my grail guns, lol. "One of."
