Tell you what, a dear friend of mine built a replica/ reproduction of the Gunsmoke set Longbranch Saloon at his ranch outside of Cour de Laine, Idaho. He has every western movie made available for viewing in the adjoining theatre, but even he and his wife haven't built the whole darn town!
Wow!

DG ... I was very surprised to note the scope of his town's blueprint. He has created a magnificent reproduction town in a relatively small area.

I've wondered (a bit) about the actual size of the towns in the past. You know, towns that were twenty to fifty people, out in the badlands, where it might have made sense to be real close, like a fwd observation post or firebase.
There's probably a website that has all that...

If I had the time and could spend some of it in that back yard town and let my imagination go (like Christopher Reeves in "Somewhere in Time") I think I just might be able to really make it back there. The detail is innnnn-credible!!
