ringo, have you checked with the issuer's ad in the NRA magazine? They may still have some unsold in stock.

Thank you for that, I will check. I MIGHT have the money for it by early July--depending on how much my Beatles Anthology poster may sell for at the auction in June. Im also having to relist my WWII Uniform for sale due to non payment from original buyer. That will give me extra as well. :D

Hey, it's worth a try, they don't always sell out at those prices. IIRC, it was in the AR mag within the last year.

I DID own one of audies personnal guns. Colt New Frontier in .45 colt. Serial number 5355 NF. I bought it used/new at a pawn shop in receda california about in 1973 for the then going price of $250s. Evidently his son didnt tell the clerk that it was his famous fathers. I enjoyed the gun for a few years and then bought george gartons book, "Post war colt single actions". The mate to it was in his book. Audie had bought a consecutively matched pair and willed them to his two sons. The one son sold his to garton. Of course that one could have been up or down from mine. I called garton and he told me mine was the missing colt! He said he thought mine would show itself when he featured his and tried to buy mine. I wrote colt and got mine documented as being one of two consecutively numbered new frontiers sent to wolfram leather company in monrovia california. Garton had his son go with him and got a notarized statement that it was his dad`s. I made mine a safe queen. I later got married and my ex ran off with a married man and took my murphy colt and many more western guns with her I wonder what mine would bring today? Probley more than my house and my retirement account that I am living off of! Yeah, its been almost 30 years and I am still bitter. And IF I still had it, it wouldnt be up for sell either!

Did you report those as stolen? If you did, they're still stolen.
I'll bet you could find one or two of them, or at least a trail.

Im hoping it is? I dont want to have to get one through Collectors Firearms in Houston. Those guys have great stuff but-at unaffordable prices.

It appears they are still taking orders. $195 down and $100 a month until paid off. $149 for the display case.

Hey, that ain't even cigarette money!

Thats what I saw. Id normally do that but--imstill paying off a $2,000 bank loan thanks to my checking account beinghacked and everything stolen back about 5 months ago. $100 I can definitely do a month but not till the loan is paid.

Im hoping these will still be available in July? since ill know then what my poster will sell for. If I get over $5,000 like they are saying I should? this Audie Murphy tribute is mine. :-))

Ringo, that's a nice looking 1911 and I'm a big Audie Murphey fan, but I've just not been able to warm up to the commemoratives. There's just something I like about the looks and lines of an nice original USGI 1911 and they can be found for about the price of the commemorative.

I am sorry for that loss especially. The evil that somepeope willingly do. Grrr.....

I see the ads in the NRA magazines and they just don't appeal to me, too glitzy. Plus I can't see paying 2000$ for a gun I can't ever shoot.

Thats my nly delimma-that I cant fire it. I wonder how good these are for investintment purposes? An unfired one in 40 years time...... :D

Here is the way it went. When the ex ran off I immediately did take all the guns I could get to, to my best friends house. I had a big antique Marietta floor safe. Only her and I had the combo. There was a key lockable compartment in the safe. I couldnt find the key but for me that wasnt new. I just thought I had misplaced it. I didnt worry about it thinking those guns were safe. In that compartment besides the murphy colt, I had a remington derringer, another old colt SAA, a nice colt lighting, a colt 1878 DA 45 colt, a .44 S&W 1st model DA, and a nice bring back Luger my uncle gave me. Actually, that one hurt the most as we were close and he also was very highly decorated.
I let things go for months as I thought they were safely locked in the safe. Finally about 7 or 8 months after she split I decided to tear the safe apart. Actually, it was easy. When I got the flimsy door off I also got a heart attack! The compartment was empty! All the guns were in thick socks, all 7 or 8 gone! I immediately did call the sheriffs dept and a young deputy was sent to take the report. Think that was on a friday night. Monday the detective came over, we talked etc. Then he tells me he is taking the guns OFF the hot sheet! He says, look, we both know your wife took them. My divorice was not yet final. He said if I arrest someone they will end up owning my house and yours! Until I get the court to judge them mine she could have just sold them as community property. So while we were hashing out the property during the divorce she had already denied taking any guns. I wouldnt agree to anything until she signed a document that if any of the guns ever turned up they were to be considered mine as I had bought every one of them before we met. She fought hard against signing that but finally did to settle the divorce. We had fought about a year on that! Later a GF of hers told me exactly how she done it. And then I recalled the time. I hadnt seen my daughter in several months while they were on the run. She brought are daughter over, said she wanted some jewelry of hers out of the safe and that was okay with me while I was hugging and playing with daughter. She opened the bedroom window, threw the guns out and retreived them that night after I thought they had left. She had a close GF that she also led astray helping her at gunshows etc, but found her a new boy friend too and she also ran out on her family!!!
Later the GF went back to her family, had a falling out with my ex and she came over and told me that detail. But by then I already had a couple of witness`s that had seen several of the guns on her table for sale at a couple of other gun shows. She had me stay away from all gun shows in california by court order. My lawyer had called me in and told me she wanted the court order as her and her new BF were afraid of me as they worked the gunshows. He said it doesnt make sense to me either but advisied me not to fight it and he would get the restrainment lifted when the divorice was final. BUT at that time we didnt yet know the guns were even missing! So she had about 6 months to sell the guns at the shows and didnt have to worry about me showing up!
Yes, I could have again have them listed as hot. But now a year had gone by, she had the money spent, and I had calmed down enough to weigh things out. I didnt want my daughter to have to know that I sent her mother to jail. Life sometimes gets complicated. Sometime later I may post pictures and serial numbers again with the hope I might get a chance to buy back one or two of them if they ever show up. No way could I afford to get them all, but I sure would like my uncles luger back. There was quite a story to that. The last time I seen him alive he gave it to me. I`m done.

Did you eventually get a real legal divorce ??? Are the guns considered hot or not....Stolen guns never get off the list unless recovered...Most have been some kind of gal......She goes to gun shows with guy number three now and got a restraining order against you..Utah sounds more like something you would experience in the Republic of California...Good Luck....If guns are reported stolen they stay that way until recovered.......We had a gun supplier in the general area that had a big time burglary of numerous guns in, I think it was the late 60's or early 70...Now and again one turns up, I heard one was recovered in Hawaii a couple of years ago due to a gun check..I think the insurance carrier got the recovered gun, as they had paid the store originally..

That was in california back in 1986. No, I never had them relisted as hot. With the time involved as I stated on the prior post by the time the divorice was finalized after the guns were stolen was well over a year. She ran off about a week before Christmas of 85 and when I tore the safe apart was about august of 86. I was in a child custody battle, (I lost and run out of money). By that time I weighed things out, knew the guns were sold by then and didnt want to have my daughters mother jailed. In retrospect I dont think it would have made things much different than they have already turned out but thats another story. I have occasionaly both here and on the colt site listed the serial numbers and pictures of the guns to see what happens. Nothing has happened. I am willing to bet that by doing it several people or more are sitting on a gun or two sweating. Those guns would have been sold to a collector, not a thug on the street as all were fine collector guns and my ex ran my tables at gun shows for over a year prior to our split and a year after at least. Here is a couple more besides the murphy colt.
Remington Derringer 414

Geezus, I dont know how I would react if so much from my colletion were pinched?

Dang it Ringo, yer KILLIN' me. It will be at least 3 nights before I'm able to get to sleep without rackin' my brain to figure a way to get one those. I nearly stopped breathing when I saw that pic!!!

It didnt work for Byron Smith and we both went through similar, I can relate to him. Thats why I said on another thread that there but for the grace of God go`s me. In fact I tried a few dirty tricks myself later and God thwarted me every time.

FeralMerril that is a heartbreaking story. Very depressing. You have my sincere sympathy.

But you know, I believe that sometimes miracles do occur. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that some how, some way, some time, things will roll around your way and that revolver will find it's way back into your life. I know, I know, but stuff like that does happen once in a while. The fact that you didn't hunt her down and kill her proves that you are a good man and you deserve to have this little miracle happen for you.

And even if it never happens it would be a fun thing to think about now and then, eh? Good luck in the future. I hope you'll let us know when it turns up. ;)

Ive been told im a negative influence a time or two. I got that from my Sister when she claimed I taught my Nephew Jeremy-his first curse word--which wasn't me--he got it from being with my Dads work crew when shingling some house and one of the men smashed his thumb with a hammer--cussing like a Sailor with his yearly shore leave cancelled. :D

Add my sympathies and hopes too in the return of the Audie Murphy pistol. And if anyone has any left over? please let me borrow it. I want my Nov 41 made Walther P-38 back. Its been missing since Jan 6th 2000.

Disregard-stupid filters not allowing me to post the two images of Audie and his Medals like I wanted. Grr........
