How is the selection of M&P pistols in your area?

Went to a gun show in the Dallas area this weekend and the selection was very limited. This is the 2nd show in 2 weeks that I have been to where the selection was not the best.

I was looking for a 9mm FS in either the Pro or standard. There were M&P available but the Glocks had them outnumber by my guess 10-1. I did find a Pro model with a test fire date of 12-17-2013 and brought it home. There were a few of each model in the line available but prices were varied from $469 to $569 for the standard and $569 to $659 for the Pros in the 4.25" barrel, the 5", and CORE models.

I went to a gun show the first week of January 2014 and there was a decent selection. The supply appears to be shrinking.

I live in a rural area and really don't have a local gun shop to buy from and buy most of my guns at the shows.

Anyway I was just wondering if this is just a local thing or is the shortage everywhere.

My LGS is Atlas Firearms, and they have an online site that has a bunch of them, including shields and compacts and midsize 45 m&Ps. Here is the site:

atlasfirearms.com

GrabAGun.com in Coppell by DFW has plenty of M&P In stock online. You can do personal pick up as well.

They seem to be fairly readily available in my area of Columbus, OH. Both of my LGS get Shields in very regularly, they just don't last long. They are much easier to get now than even 6 months or so ago.

Limited for me, but I only use 1 place. I just order and wait for the call. No biggie. I don't have to have one "right now".

I have been able to find what I want at a reasonable price. Just not as many to choose from as there was before. May just be the last 2 shows as they are not the big shows in this area. I was looking for a current (less then 2 months old) production date. The standard M&P9 appears to be less available around here. The LGS has only 1 in stock and it has been there awhile. Just didn't appear to be as many available as there has been.

I know I can order but I like to look at a gun before I buy it, and by the time I pay shipping and transfer fee It costs more. I don't count gas and admission fee as I am going to the gun show anyway.

One good thing (as long as I don't run out of funds) is that in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area you can find a gun show just about every weekend.

As this is written, one of the distributors with whom I regularly order guns has big quantities of both full size and compact M&Ps, in both 9 and .40, but only in the version with no magazine safety, no internal lock and no manual (thumb) safety. Carry and Range Kits are not in stock. I like those better as they have the third magazine, although I have never met anyone who wanted the holster and magazine pouch. M&P22s are also in stock in large numbers in the 12 round version. Shields are still on back order. Quantities are spotty on other variations, and the .45s are back ordered. Therefore, your dealer should be able to get many of the variations fairly quickly.

Here in Saint Louis, MO you can get any M&P product hat you would like, from the Shield to FS to compacts in any flavor.
The Shield is running around $400 and all others are in the $500 range.

Everything but the 45 is available. $400 Shields and$ 460 everything else

About the lowest prices here are $469 for the standard and $569 for the Pro version. These are non LEO prices. I guess this is just Glock territory! I have several Glocks and decided to check out the M&P line when the Texas Department of Public Safety announced they were switching to them. So far there are Pros & Cons to both brands. Weather has hampered by shooting time for a full evaluation.

Just watch Sportsmans Outdoor Warehouse stock, all of the basic models are $429 (Shields are $379) shipped plus your LGS transfer fee.

M&p's are hard to come by where im at ... in the Philippines. As such the cost more than double what glock 17s go for ... although i do prefer m&ps because of the ergonomics im finding it hard to pay double

I tend to be having the same issue around here; and that's typically a sign of a great firearm. When I first got into guns, they were almost always sold out of Glock 19's. I started out with a 9mm. However, recently, it seems all of my local gun shops are loaded with Glocks, but are having trouble getting their hands on M&P pistols. They keep telling me that as soon as they come in, they are sold out. (A couple of them even told me they had a waiting list). I recently acquired a Shield 40 cal that took me about 3 weeks before I could find them. Got it at a great price at Christmas time, too ($399). :)

Was at a gunshow (Rocky Mountain Gun Show, fairly large one) Saturday 2.1.14. They had M&P's of all varieties except the M&P22, but not in great number. Even had a few 17rd 9mm mags, but vendors wanted $50+ for them.

I've found that it's EXTREMELY difficult to find magazines for M&P pistols. I've had one on backorder from Midway USA for about 3 weeks; I finally cancelled it, and was able to find it through Cheaper Than Dirt. Even then, I think it said I got 2 of the last 5 they had in stock.

Just ordered 6 for my new M&P 9mm for $26 each when ordered in quantity of 3 from Quantico Tactical with $8 shipping, $27.33 each. They are $29.95 in quantities of less then 3 plus shipping. Best price I can find. Were selling for $40 each plus tax this weekend at the gun show.
