Well, at the end of it, the wait was only one and a half days. Upon picking the pistol up, the sales guy opened the box and quickly showed me that the gun was the one purchased. Got the gun home and started cleaning it only to discover it was missing the spring for the "inner trigger". Went back to dealer and was told "all sales final", bite the wire and go away.

My principle residence is in Suffolk County (Sag Harbor). When I buy a pistol or long arm for my Manhattan residence, it is a totally different story and a totally different procedure.
Under the New York State Safe Act, the state set the maximum Transfer Fee of $10.00 so one New York resident could sell a gun to another New York State resident through a dealer, who would run the background check and do the paperwork. There are only a hand full of dealers that I know who are willing to do that for $10.00., but fortunately I have two.

Made it to the Dealer Yesterday and the Sheriffs Department today. 8 new additions added to my Pistol Permit. Finally.

Actually, Colorado has a statewide standard for concealed handgun permits. All applicants must be fingerprinted and photographed, and full NCIC history is accessed. The renewal process requires background investigation as well. 90 days is a pretty common time frame for issuance or renewal.
My central point seems to have been missed. If the law establishes a standard then that standard should apply to everyone equally.
I have no problem with states that waive the Brady Bunch BS for those who hold valid carry permits and have been fully vetted. As long as that single standard of law is applied equally there is no argument from me.
What I object to, and refuse to accept without argument, is the creation of a privileged class based upon bureaucratic decree, rather than a single standard applied equally to everyone.

I bought a pistol yesterday and the background check went thru almost immediately. At the same store, another customer bought a pistol on Saturday and is still waiting as of this afternoon. Oregon has twelve people that do the background checks, but the governor furloughed ten of them because of the pandemic. That leaves two to do the work, there are around (today) twenty five hundred waiting for checks.
In Nevada it’s usually 15 minutes unless you have a CCW, then there’s no BG check. Since covid BGs are taking 1-3 weeks.
