Im with a few of the others, if a door in my house is opened, my dog would be on them quick the only concern i would have with the light is that i could not see and would be worried about shooting my dog so i very likely would hesitate to a point of danger.....so i can see the dilemma.

12 gauge and shoot the light out. You got to have a shotgun by your bed at all times if you think you may have an intruder one day. I keep mine loaded with slugs most of the time. 00buck would work too. I think that some people react differently to the strobe light. It doesn't seem to bother me much, but one time we had a strobe setting on the stage at a tavern I was playing at. Some guy went to his knees then went in to convulsions. Found out later that he had epilepsy. Just glad he didn't start shooting instead of just cussing.
