Ball ammo for EDC?

An interesting addition to this thread. The US military is switching it's 9mm handgun ammo over to hollow points.

If you go to NJ you'd better NOT be carrying hollow point ammo. From what I can find out it's still illegal, even for a retired LEO w/ LEOSA certification. As I said in another thread I'm taking the path of least resistance. I don't want to get arrested, even if I'm ultimately found to be in the right, and spend all that money to prove it.

Wrong. It is only illegal for retired LEO's living in NJ to carry HP ammo.

Any other active or retired LEO covered by LEOSA living in any other state is allowed to carry HP ammo.

Lock this down please, OP hasn't even responded/replied...

I am not asking anyone to do anything. I can see there is a lot of sentiment here for hardball ammo.

All you are doing is making harder for your lawyer at your trial - all good by me.

At least you all are carrying, and that is preferred to not, in my opinion, since I won't be paying your legal bills or serving your time.

best

The only time I have used ball ammo was when I carried a small caliber (.32 auto) and wanted to maximize penetration.

If I were forced to rely on either a .32 auto or .380, I would pick the .32 if Euro-spec ammunition was available. Better penetration than .380 ball, less recoil, and usually one more round in the magazine.
