How many of you guys out there use ballistol?
Good for blued guns?
I’ve been using CLP, Hoppe’s bore cleaner and Hoppe’s lubricatinv oil too.
Also Otis protecting spray.
What’s the word on all these products?
Thanks

MSDS lists the principal ingredient of Ballistol is mineral oil in an isohexane solvent. In other words, it is diluted 3-in-1 Oil. Also contains propane as the aerosol propellant for the spray can version. Sounds like powerful and magical stuff to me. Will work wonders on your guns like no other product that ever was or ever will be. It will even raise the dead.

I have a big bottle ... Smell it before you buy it !

It has a ... peculiar aroma ... I don't care for it .

Dirty Feet has been mentioned ... I just find it off-putting .

Smell it before you buy a Big bottle !

I've never tried it. I went to Gunzilla CLP several years ago and really like it. Very pleasant odor, cleans exceptionally well. TopDuck Products LLC. About to order another 16oz. bottle.

Back before WW l, it was developed for the German military as a CLP product. It's been performing yeoman service on firearms, slings, boots, etc. ever since.
I'm not particularly fond of the "aroma", but it works well as a CLP. The aroma isn't like Hoppe's #9, but it works as intended.
I use other products to clean copper fouling from rifle and pistol bores, but it cleans the black powder fouling from my Sharps very well.

My wife can't stand the smell, that is the only downside is I have to clean my guns at the gun club which takes up some of my time. On the positive end, it means they are well maintained.

I used Ballistol on all of my guns, blued or otherwise. I It keeps my 1937 Winchester Model 69 pristine.

I shoot military rifles with corrosive-primed surplus ammunition (7.62x54r, 7.62x39, 303 British). I mix Ballistol with water in a solution of 10% Ballistol and 90% water. Ballistol emulsifies in water and gives water an alkaline characteristic making it the perfect bore cleaner after firing corrosive ammo. When I shoot the Enfields or the Mosin Nagants, Ballistol "Moose Milk" always goes to the range with me.
