"Barney Miller"

One of the best sit-coms ever! I was in high school when it was on, and my dad and I never missed it.

One thing that makes a great comedy is when all the characters are funny, and they all were.

One of my favorite episodes is when they have the guy in the cell who thinks he's turning into a werewolf! The hash brownie episode is probably my favorite.

I've gotten to the point where I hate shows with a laugh-track. But if a show is actually funny, like this one, you don't even notice it.

"Barney Miller" is one of my favorite shows, definitely the best cop show ever. It was a true ensemble show, the whole cast was excellent. It's just about the only fictional cop show I've seen where a incident or character on the show will remind me of something that happened on my job.

Scary thing is Vigoda was only 56 when he played Fish on the series. Jack Soo was 4 years older than Vigoda!

The passing of Jack Soo was very sad. They aired a poignant episode as a tribute. I still bust out the "mooshi mooshi" (sp?) line occasionally when my wife asks me a question and I want to be ornery.

Barney Miller hash episode and WKRP's turkey episode are two shows I will always remember.

"Fish and his shoulder holster is so realistic."

Y'all need to take a look at that donut clip. Fish is wearing suspenders UNDER the holster. He has to either take the holster off and slide them off his shoulders, or unbutton them, slide them out from under the holster, then take the holster off anyway to put the braces back on.

Hal Linden once came to the old 12th precinct in Detroit and took some pics with the detectives. Probably early 80's. The DB was located on the second floor of the 1920's-built, two-story municipal building on 7 Mile, west of Woodward. It looked very similar to the Barney Miller show set. Municipal-colored paint, outdated office equipment and a bunch of detectives in cheap clothes and cheesy mustaches. I wish I had a pic from that day but back then there were no such things as digital cameras or scanners.....
