I have the M&P 15OR Model. My barrel is the New Jersey compliant barrel and I HATE the look of that plain straight barrel with no Compensator etc. Aesthetics shouldn't mean anything, but to me it does so I'm looking to buy a new barrel ASAP. Tonight actually if I get a decent amount of feedback on my question. So which barrel do you guys recommend? I need a Carbine Length Gas System. I was just looking at a Daniel Defense CHF Barrel on another website for $230. Or is there other decent barrels out there for cheaper that you guys have experience with and would recommend? I still wanna use my Factory S&W Gas Block and Knights Handguard. Just wanna swap out the barrel itself. Thanks for any info you guys can provide.

Look into a barrel with a .223 Wylde chamber. Shoots .223 and NATO 5.56 quite well. It is a hybrid chamber somewhat tighter than 5.56, but still chambers them fine. More accurate.

Look into what Bear Creek Arsenal has. Probably under $150 shipped. Look into a 1 in 8 twist. Good all around twist rate good up to 77 grain or so bullets.

My rifle has an 18 heavy fluted stainless with a 1 in 8 twist and the Wylde chamber. Bear Creek arsenal. First time out with an AR platform, and a heavy stock trigger. I was doing 3" circles at 100 yards and Wolf ammo. I'm normally a Bullseye pistol guy, so this is a steep learning curve.

My answer is the same as it was last year when you asked this same question... Get your current barrel threaded and pin on the muzzle break of your choice that keeps your rifle compliant.

Thanks and sorry if my question bothered you AGAIN. Just ignore my post next time to avoid any issues. My main question was about the DD barrel and what you guys thought about it and some possible other choices. Don't wanna get my current barrel threaded.

Sorry my answer got your panties twisted... but you did ask for other choices. Not sure what you hope to gain by purchasing a different barrel when simply threading your existing barrel solves your issue with the aesthetics.

It is my understanding now, that any legal muzzle device has to be welded to the barrel so that it can't be removed.

You also want to be careful purchasing a threaded barrel for delivery in NJ. Some sellers will not ship restricted items to NJ, and I wouldn't put it past some to participate in a sting. Possession of restricted parts can lead to a conviction based on "intent to manufacture".

All of that said, I would consider building an interchangeable upper with an acceptable barrel, and swap it out as needed.

Ok good idea...Thanks a lot for your help

I have a 18" SS melonite coated barrel from Integrity Arms with a head spaced bolt. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. My two cents.
