I would like some advise on the Barska red dot scopes
which would be used on my mp 15-22
A friend gave it to me and it appears to be new
he found it at a yard sale for 5.00
Any comments good or bad will be appreciated

Here's a link to some reviews on Amazon assuming you have the same version.

Your friend overpaid. :D

It's the same as all the other Chinese labor camp red dots of that style, just with a different label slapped on it.

It will work ok. You'll need a riser for it. Half inch riser should work or 3/4.

TURN IT ON!!! does it work? does it only have one dot? if so you are in luck. slap it on and zero it. Use it till it breaks. i dont think the recoil of your .22lr will be a problem for it. Cant beat a free red dot. However if you plan to get a real one spend some money. Bushnell trs25 for the minimum. I have a Primary Arms with 2.5x magnification that i love. Ultimately its your rifle use what you enjoy and can afford and above all else HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! :D Enjoy!

OH and speaking from experience when it comes to red dots YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! just check out the number of threads here

You don't need a riser unless you want to co-witness iron sights. All thru the 3 years from 2011-2014 when I was shooting the 15-22 in speed competition I never used a riser. Didn't matter if it was a 40mm tube red dot or a reflex one (Both TruGlo ones, the best of the under $100 red dots).
