YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN IN YOUR LIFETIME!!

This IS NOT Political, simply factual.

When President Clinton took office in 1993 surplus 7.62x39 ammunition was $2/box of 20. I was going to build up a stockpile by buying 1-2 boxes a week until I thought I had enough. The next weekend in the same LGS it was suddenly$5/box of 20. Adjusted for inflation that is $10 today!!! This was 29 years ago and has never returned to $2 yet, and, obviously, never will. The annoying thing is the Chinese and Russian stuff is probably still coming into the country nearly free, or would except for Biden's ban on importation!

Bottom line now is If I don't load it, I don't shoot it! Even that is getting difficult as all of you know. Cost for everything is ridiculous, but even with the cost finding loading components is next to impossible.

Right now I'm buying for consumption (a couple boxes a month) targeting 40 cpr ($20 a box). Planning to buy a bulk 500/1000 if/when I can get it at 30 cpr ($15 a box). (including shipping).

The year Clinton took office we went to Key West on vacation. I paid $110 / night for a waterfront hotel. During the 8 days we spent $600 for food and I bought $180 in souvenirs.

We just came back from another vacation in Key West. Same month, same number of days. The hotel was $426 / night, food was $950 and souvenirs were $195.

My current salary (retirement benefits) is about 50% higher than my salary back in 1993, but now I don't have a mortgage, car payments or kids in college. It all works out.

OTOH, I currently load 762x39 for about $9 a box, so adjusted for inflation I'm ahead of the game.

its all about being prepared.

Was in Scheel's yesterday. They had lot of Wolf 7.62 X 39 ammo. I did not even look at the price. Also import(don't remember brand..maybe Wolf too) 5.56 $460 per 1000 rd case. Win 5.56 $560 case

Agreed! Snowball in heck I believe is the term. Also, the days of 2.5-3 cent primers are done. If they go to .08, buy all you can! I have paid $8/100 at Cabelas recently. Limit of 300. I woulda bought 30 k if they woulda let me.
I hope I’m wrong.

Just bought a case last week for 29.7 cpr, including shipping. I'm doubting that it's going much lower than that.

I did see some 9mm at the local farm store for 14 dollars a box but it was aluminum cased(28CPR) but that was plus tax 4%. Got to add. they had powder at Scheel's too. No primers

What part of Virginia are you in.. northern…? Southeastern?

About 12 years or so ago I bought a mint barely fired Norinco Hunter from a friend (not a gun guy) who had bought it for Y2K because he was scared. His wife didn't know he had it and he never fired it over a magazine or two and had kept it hidden all that time. Wife wanted to go on vacation!
He wanted $ 500 for it which at the time was top dollar. But with the Chinese ban there were no more and I was very interested. So when he brought it over and it included two cases of ammo and a nice soft tactical case, an extra couple of mags, and the scope mount, it was a no brainer for me. The ammo at the time was bringing close to that. (first Obama presidency) And with the accessories I figured the rifle was free. 7.62X39 ammo prices languished for a long time, but I am very happy I bought the combo back then.

Uh... Never. Why wait? Buy if and when you need it. If the 1st 1K are at $0.40 per, buy 2K when the price drops to $0.30 and your average cost drops as well...?

Don't forget to shoot some! It's not like natural gas or gasoline: or, baby formula...?

Or, TOILET PAPER!

CHEERS!

Between my cataract surgery and my back killing me, I haven't shot much, and what I did I bought (9mm) just to go shoot that day with. I did find some PNC 9mm at some place a couple of months ago for $13.99/50 and I grabbed 3 of them. Shot fine, as usual. I have a bunch of sub $10.00 9mm at home that I grabbed up as it went on sale over the last 5 years or so. The only stuff I never saw at a decent price was .38 and .357 ammo. I did buy some, but not a lot as it was always too high, IMO.

Have several cases of 9mm that I bought for less than $200 delivered. So very thankful I bought lots of .22 LR by the case w/ it could be bought for good prices. Have plenty of .30 cal. bullets and LR primers. Not so much powder and no LP/SP primers. My mistake. Now, buy what I can when I can. Once burned is enough. Sincerely. bruce.

I too have 6 cases of 9mm that I paid $100-$171 for prior to 2020. I paid $370 ($18.50/box) for this case last month. I'll probably continue to do that every time my quarterly annuity payment hits. If it goes to $250/ case 1K I'll up the amounts. Under $200 case and I'll "buy cheap and stack deep." Never will get another 13,500 rds for $1100 in this lifetime. Joe

Well, it was Clinton who banned Chinese ammo, not Biden. And I remember GWB had a Russian ammo ban as well. I belong to a couple forums with a lot of Canadian members and you would be surprised by some of the things they can buy that we can't.
