Basic Survival Skills Lacking For Young Millenials

Nah..You just had to learn how a fireboy does it!! I had a couple of truckies on my shift.. All I had to say was sick'em and those windows were gone. They loved their job..They could destroy a tank!! LOL!

It was firemen that taught me about it.

These "basic skills" are great but in reality won't earn you dime in the modern world, no offense, just the truth. The modern survival skills are all technical and electronics oriented. And as those of us who grew up depending on the skills mentioned in the the original post believe/fear will eventually be needed to survive at sometime, the current and next generation would just as well choose not to survive in such a primitive world. Not unlike those of my generation who, if a nuclear war had broken out during the Cold War, hoped the first bomb fell on their house so they wouldn't need to live in the post nuclear war world. Just my thoughts.....

there were those of us, as children, who hoped for an atomic war to thin the herd.
i appreciate electricity n indoor plumbing more now than then.

civilizations rise.
civilizations fall.
someday our skills will be needed, but not in our lifetime.

With all due respect but a nuclear war doesn't thin the herd but ends the species. Either through direct destruction or by destruction of the environment.

All skills are valuable, but all things are relative.

My question is: Based on how dependent we are upon technology and modern conveniences, do we not have a vested interest in ensuring that society never collapses in the first place?

Are these the same people who are so concerned about the environment, but have no understanding of it? That's because they have been trained to parrot "concerns" about things for which they have no knowledge. Those, I cannot take seriously.

They better hope things don't get primitive, cause those urban predators and the kids from south of the border will be eating them for lunch.

However, as has been noted, there are some who aren't sheep, that have the ability to think and take action. I suppose most of the passengers on the Titanic couldn't swim, either.

Agreed that they can use electronics better than me. However during a hurricane my SIL's brother was at the house and when the lights went out thought he was going to freak out. Then again after it was all over, one of my wifes friends had asked when the air conditioning was going to be turned back on after I humped the generator on the patio. Had to explain that 6500 watts wouldn't power up the whole house although I did have a 3' diameter fan running full tilt. At which point she and her husband promptly left. After bumming a big bag of charcoal. Frank

If were talking a post apocalyptic situation then most would not survive. Sure the ones that were in the Military would most likely do fine but the regular Millennial cant blow their nose without help. They would quickly be dominated by Those that know how to do things and have to work for Them for food and water.

The survival skills I see lacking in many millenials are the ability to communicate face to face, use manners and show respect. The urban jungle is where they need to be able to survive.

^^^^^^^^^^Quadruple dittos. One of the main things is the "me first" mentality. Most ignore light criticism, others get embarassed by it and actually acknowledge their "my bad" behavior. There is still hope for some of them.
